Jed On: Stories. · 2:28pm Jul 17th, 2014
Sometimes, as a writer, you're privileged to have created something that's pretty gosh-darn big. Now I'll be honest: if you'd told me even three months ago that by now I'd have written such a story, and it would be about My Little Pony... I'd have been pretty sceptical, not least because my love for the show and the fan work is comparatively recent - and also because the track record for my attention span is not that impressive.
Having said that: I've now reached the stage with The Avatar of Albion where it's no longer simply a case of writing the main story, it's a case of building the world, and let me tell you - it's a pretty big world, considering how small it's become in-story. There's a lot of stories to tell: The Battle of Manchester, the story of Sol Invictus, the Iron Wall, the smuggler caravan of Trixie Lulamoon, the first exodus of the ponies... and that's just the stuff in my head. My beta readers (and by now they might as well be co-writers) Matt and Isaac have their own ideas for stories that need to be told, and in some cases their stuff is even bigger and crazier than mine. And that's not even counting some of the stuff I can't even really tell you about, stuff set after the final battle... let's just say, you will hopefully be blown away by it.
So - my intention is to create an Anthology story, where a collection of such short stories - by myself, Isaac and Matt - can be collected and perused, allowing the readers of my story a glimpse at the world of TAOA, in all the grim, unpleasant detail that is contained therein. Even better: if you're reading this and you have an idea for a story you want to tell in that world, then the Anthology is open for submissions. Just PM me and I'll get in contact with you, and we can discuss a submission.
Until then folks: I hope you enjoy reading the stories that are coming out of my rather odd cranium as much as I enjoy giving them to you. The next chapter of TAOA should be up in the next day or so, and the next one about a few days after.
Cheers,
Jed.
