Three tiny, largely insignificant updates. · 6:58am Jul 11th, 2014
1) Although I still like the idea, I'm over the recency bias regarding Wisp's curved horn. I'd only made a small nudge to it in chapter 5, but it's gone now. I'll leave it up to the reader's imagination for now, but I again consider it straight. Lol.
2) Besides a day of inaction, the next chapter is coming along nicely. Not too far in (only the second scene), but yeah. I expect it should be finished/ready for upload within a week. (Likely sooner considering my recent activity this last month and how extremely consistent I've been, but I don't wanna assume too much. )
3) Twinkleshine is now officially straight. Changed the "mare or stallion" bit in chapter 4 to not mention mares. I had an idea involving her and Wisp having once attempted a relationship (at Wisp's lonely and/or drunken insistence), but it would have been little more than a sidenote and would possess little, if any, narrative significance. I'm self-conscious as it is about how so many of my female characters happen to like females--Wisp and the twins are one thing, adding a fourth is another, but a certain character I eventually want to introduce, who may or may not be the star of a standalone fic I intend to write (not to mention Ginny, but I don't feel bad there considering where she met our fair heroine, and she's no main character, at least as far as I can currently see) is just too much, at least when I wish to portray a sexually diverse and inclusive Equestria, not a male fantasy filled with lesbians.
Anyway, I think this change suits the character, and if I do bring up anything resembling that idea in the future, I think the dynamic between the two characters as they are now would be more interesting, don't you?
It also bears mentioning, I suppose, that Twinkleshine being into the fairer sex was going to play into one of the few direct connections I plan on making with the events of Winningverse canon. This event being the offhand comment in the beginning of The Incredibly Dense Mind of Rainbow Dash (aka the beginning/progenitor of the 'verse) about Flitter and Cloudchaser skipping Hearts and Hooves Day work to go on a double date. And the thing is, it still can, if I so choose, so... Whee.
