One day in 1994, I can remember my dad talking about a show where a girl transformed naked and fought a monster. I thought nothing of it until one day I stayed home from school, (Because my parents had this thing against 2 hr delays, that and sometimes I felt like not going) and my dad was watching said show on tv at about 2 pm in the afternoon. It has a young blonde girl running away from a cat complaining about her gaining weight, and later on I saw this 'nude' transformation sequence (because of the type of boy I was at the time, I covered my eyes at this...only to discover later on that they had Barbie doll anatomy)
That was my first experience seeing a series that I would soon fall in love with, Sailor Moon. I can't really remember the first full episode that I watched, though I think it might have been from R or one with Rei being awesome (True fact, fave senshi-Sailor Jupiter, Uranus). The fact is, after a few episodes, I was hooked and so was my mother (Remember, my mom is on this site, is a fan of my work, cosplayed as Fluttershy, Told me fanfics as a kid, and read me comic books when I was a child as bed time stories. Did I mention I belong to a family of nerds?) I remember being sad when DIC decided that 65 episodes was a great number to end off on, so at the end of the episode where the 4 sisters got redeemed I watched in horror as we were back at the first episode once again. This tought me to enoy the reruns and lov watching an episode multiple times. I remember being happy at the lost episodes of Sailor Moon and excited at seeing the S season being released...the Super S season on the other hand is another story. I remember reading Sailor moon uncensored when those were all the rage, the excitement of finding Stars subbed, and even more excitement when I got linked to a deal on a cheap box set of the first season thanks to an agony booth article. I can also remember all the fun I had of getting another story on my emulator. These are some of my best memories of Sailor Moon.
This is, of course, not forgetting the fanfics. Von Doom work was some of the first fanfics I had ever read, along with Pokemon and Sonic. Heck, one of the biggest and strangest crossovers I can remember being read to was a little fic called "Moon Meets Dragon" To this day, I wonder if I am going to meet someone on this site who wrote one of these old stories and wrote something I love on here. (I have a betting pool with my brother that Kkat is, in fact, Von Doom) Heck, I een told myself I had a quest to find a truely excellent Sailor moon crossover that matched any of the qualty ones I found here. A quest that ended this year with RK Striker's "Three new senshi."
This brings me here, to the main topic of this blog. What does Sailor Moon mean to me...
That, just because one is clumsy and a crybaby, doesn't mean you can't grow from it and you can't slowly change into a better person. While at the same time, you can still have your old quirks and be great.
The desire to destroy, kill, or murder is not a real strength, but rather optimism, hope, wanting to protect, friendship, and love are real strengths.
That anyone, everyone, no matter how dark or evil you may be, deserves a chance at redemption. For, they might surprise you or even actually been good in the past.
Admitting that you need help, that you have flaws or weaknesses, doesn't mean you're weak. It just means that you know where your own faults lie and that you can improve them, or barring that...
You can rely on your true friends to back you up and improve your flaws, helping to remind you of your own strengths. What you falter in one, the others can help you to improve.
To admit that you ned your friends, sometimes, can make you stronger than any god, Saiyan, strong warrior, or centaur. That the bond you have with them, can make you strong and make them strong as well.
That, by being a good friend, you can help them over come tragidy and heartbreak. Turing a horrible life into a great one, or even to help them come oout of their shells.
Did some of those sound familar? Yeah...they're excatly the same thing I feel when I watch this show.
See, I thought about another way Sailor moon means to me...it helped bonded me to you guys and got me here.
Sailor moon fanfic was some of the first I read, wich soon led to me being inspired to write my own. I stopped myself from writing a Sonic and Sailor moon crossover like Emeraldball Z because I felt like I couldn't write girls properly. This led to me looking up fanfic mstings, wich led me to stop reading good fanfics, wich soon led to me watching Pony, Dangerous Business, and then back to here.
For crying out loud, when I watched the first episode on the premire day, the first thing I did during the Nightmare moon fight was play "Carry On." Discord was "Moon Revenge", Chrysalis was "Power of love", Equestria girls was " Moonlight Desnetu", and the fight with Tirek was "LA soldier" because, again, my mind thought of Usagi and the crsytal getting power from the other Senshi and KICKING ASS! Heck, to this day when I make a soundtrack for something pony related, there is a chance that a Sailor moon song will be on there
Not too long ago, I asked myself why was it that it seemed that I would use a lot of Sailor Moon songs when it came to ponies...I think I now know the answer. Because a lot of the same things that I read or see when I watch ponies applies to those 9 gals in sailor uniforms. This isn't to say that is a bad thing, but a way to show that they are similar and why I love both so much. Why I go crazy at owning a new pony toy or wanting that figureart of Jupiter. Heck, my table right now has the outers behind my laptop, beside the pony figures. A moonie, and a brony, both...and I can't be happier. Without Moon, I wouldn't be here, I wouldn't have met all you wonderful people, and I wouldn't have fallen in love with six awesome mares. Because, they inspire the same thing in me.
To think, I used to admonish Usagi for needing help, now I see why she and Twilight are strong.
So, lets end this right shall we?

I've seen bits and pieces of Sailor Moon, dubed and undubed. Sailor Moon S supposedly stands for Sailor Moon Super, so Super S potentially means Super Super. Yeah, the title alone sounds stupid and childish.

I have heard that S actually stands for senshi, since that is when all nine senshi are in one season. And super S is actually Super Senshi, wich is what the girls get...such a a shame that the rest doesn't match up. God, I hate that season.
2258042 Yeah. S was the high point for the series really. If I'm not mistaken, S and Super S were dubbed by a different company, and that meant new voice actors and actresses. The old ones returned for the dub of the Super S movie.
Oh man Sailor Moon that brings me back. I have yet to give its fanfics a try got any to start with?
