Like the title said, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?

Ok, so why have I been absent from most of the stories that are in progress or even this site. Well first, I haven’t been away from the fandom in the least. If you look up my youtube channel you can see I’m still reading pony fics until the cows come home and I’m still writing with some Post by Post RPs with the family. I also still joke and talk on Discord with friends, and I still love the show and all of that. It’s just that when it came to the fics both here and on my other account, I found myself in a little trap.

I think my other account has already explained that I am a perfectionist and that I felt compelled to write until perfection was achieved. That I am above all else an entertainer and want to give people what they want, I also think that there may have been something else that was hitting me hard for the past year. It was the feeling of being noticed that I was getting and how I wanted to keep that feeling.

For the longest time, I had felt like not only were people expecting my work to be a deconstruction (Wich I vowed to stop on hatred and the like) but people were focusing on my stuff only for one reason. And I began to feel like no one wanted to read my other stuff. Not helping that it felt like no one was reading it, at all. Like Burn Sentai Spirit, even though I promoted the hell out of it.Or even my heart of worlds stuff, something I enjoyed even more than Fall. Posted on Spacebattles, discord, two different sites, and a little bit of here and...nothing. No one was reading it. And it felt a little disheartening. Like I was a one trick pony.

Then I watched a video that kind of reminded me of how foolish I was being. It was from this guy called Cinematic venom and how he was so sad about how no one wanted to watch anything but his drama causing videos. It helped remind me of something I keep saying to every new author on this site. Don’t write for fame or glory, write what you love. Maybe it might become popular, maybe it might not. No one really knows. Tons of real authors want popularity but never get it. Tons of authors write just for fun and money, but that makes them happy. Seeing that video made me realize...that’s what I write for.

And thus, brings me to the crux of this blog. What happened to Shooting Stars.

Well, you see, it all started when I began to feel a little, well, bored with it. I mean, yeah, it was fun bringing out new forms for the girls, new powers, random subplots, and all of that. But, it still felt lifeless. Like it was just a collection of battles and shonen fun without substance. The heart was missing from the work, with nothing to really support it.

With that in mind, it made the story feel like a chore to work through and not really worthy of your viewing. I didn’t know why until we got to the point where I had Samus in a temple solving puzzles and trying to get armor. I began to feel excited with it. I started to love this little story again and I began to realize why.

I love to write adventures, fantasy, and shonen. I like deconstructions fine, but this is my bread and butter, to let the characters explore who they are while going through a dungeon and fight a bad guy in a far off land. I like making puzzles and world build with new locations to explore. I’m a guy likeTolkien at heart, not an Alan Moore person.

This then led me to remember why Fall came to be so cherished in my heart and why I enjoyed writing it. It all started out as a porn fic, one with plot that I actually wanted to write. Why do you think I wanted to put it on a different account all together? So that way people could riff on me there and I could write horrible disgusting fics as much as I want without repercussions. Hell, I got tempted to write other porn fics on that account as well (And believe me, the stuff on Fall aint NOTHING compared to the stuff I don’t put down) It’s just that, it got popular. People liked it and people put a tvtropes page for it and I began to get distracted. This fic was only meant to be a distraction for me while I wrote my other stories and had fun there.

It just so happened that I began to fall in love with it and put more effort into it than I wanted to.

And we all know what happened there, and of course, one of the big problems came from trying to make lighting strike twice. Especially when you make a fic based off a one off joke you made with your brother about how Samus Aran would trounce everything in the Starfleet world. And then when you make that fic, she does.

This kind of revealed a weakness in the story, that nothing can fix even if you put a cool series of alicorns into your fic and bring back Twilight a few chapters early. The Starfleet cast, and indeed their plot? It all revolved around the machinations of Grand Ruler and how they surpassed it. You take that away with Samus and Twilight? And they have no reason for being.

Take away Rhymey, and Dash’s story isn’t really there.
Take away Grand Ruler and fix some interteam problems? And Applejack’s plot is gone.

Twilight is back early? And she does what I said she would, solve all of the problems with Starfleet in six days, or two chapters. Then you try to put in challenges to keep things interesting, but you start to see that nothing really keeps it going right until you soon...find that the fic has moved away from what it was supposed to be. Just ajoke about Samus kicking butt for a bit and how she would remove all of the problems in the story.

It’s like what I have always said in a sci-fi invasion story. You’d be surprised at how many problems with a story gets solved the moment you say “Superman exists!”

So when I got to a point where Samus began to mess with the timeline? I began to ask myself, why not use this as a chance to wipe the slate clean, remove the Starfleet crap and just have fun with the story as an adventure. I joked with the brother about this and he agreed. He took me serious about it. And the thing is, I thought it was a good idea too.

After all, I had more fun with the story as an adventure when I was giving Samus a quest and it was way more fun to write something other than Starfleet. I began to realize that the story was just a collection of set pieces meant to lead to the next big fight and that’s no way to write a story. But I soldiered on in spite of the previous complaints because I thought I could do something with it, and I was wrong.

Thus, did we take the easy way out. We retconned the hell out of Starfleet with the Lord of Nightmares and started over again. Wich brings me to here, doing what I love.

A story with adventure, Samus appearing, some small crossovers, and doing what I love. No deconstructions, no commentary, and no random shonen powerup unless they happen organically.

Will you guys like it? Maybe. Will it be entertaining? I hope so. Who knows, maybe this time you guys will be nice enough to give it a tropes page.

So, in about a week...Shooting Stars redux.

Ps...Go and read Burn Sentai Spirit!

It seems that Starfleet and Fall Of Starfleet are actually a Terrible Story Series? Can you explain Why and How Bad the Series is later on? I did read the T.V. Trope. But not enough to know the full picture.

It is nice Samus is still coming in the New Remake Story of Equestria in a Adventure Setting. How many Crossovers are there besides Metroid and Samus?

P.S. I actually like Deconstruction Fics in some cases. NOT all of them. Some like the Canterlot Wedding, Anon A Miss, and even Fall Of Equestria and the Caribou Losing.

Even a Lot of Canon Episodes be fix quickly if the Main Six, Spike, Especially Celestia, Luna, and other MLP Characters act more smarter, and clever to solve the friendship problems. And stop and possibly reform the Villains Way Better or something. Those are the Fix-Fic and Deconstruction Fic Stories that I like.

Hi, the bro here. I'm more of a lurker here nowadays mostly due to laziness and wanting to write something other than ponies, but I still do post by post with Alch here. I kinda want to write my own side here and explain some other parts that happened.

You see, this did kind of start with a joke, like he said. Samus would destroy everything. I took him up on that, and attempted to see if that was actually true.

News Flash: It was. I had to make up convoluted ways for Samus not to shoot GR in the face and fix everything. I had to contrive ways for the characters not to take the easy way out. And you know what's funny?

I had this feeling a few months into the story.

I created the alicorns with the sole purpose of giving Samus something to keep her and the Mane 5 busy. I created each alicorn's personality, gave them cool powers, and gave them some arcs. I created a character built around wanted to kill Starfleet out of revenge, and I even created some extra villains.

And Conquest? Well

His role was rendered very small, making me wonder why I even had him!? In fact, there were quite a few plot holes in the story that I kinda noticed, namely that:

Samus should've just killed Grand Ruler, but doesnt' because the story wants him alive.

Conquest doesn't kill the Mane 5 right away because he doesn't learn from his mistakes apparently(Yeah, this story was also a pseudo-sequel. Conquest wanted to go for a round 2)

Twilight doesn't hop to her friends' side after being revived because... the story asked her nicely.

See? Plot contrivances prevented the story from being any good. Mainly because I... was following the stations of canon. Something that I hate in other stories. Yeah, I was being hypocritical.

Like Alch said, there was no real heart to the story. I had more fun with the Alicorns then I was with the Starfleet stuff. And that's a problem when the entire story of the original surrounded them.

I don't even know why I even wanted to continue anyway. I guess we just... thought there was something there.

However, I'd be lying if I didn't say there weren't highlights. Here are some things you'll miss:

1. GR was going to use the Orb of Reality to make himself smarter and more dangerous. This would've culminated in a battle between him and Twilight.

2. North Star would've staged a coup that would end in a fist fight between her and Samus.

3. Conquest would've had a wife known as Malice, who fed on fear.

4. Tons of Street Fighter and Fatal Fury references.

5. And finally, a mechanical wolf robot that would've fought Serpentari.

I'm sure that there were more, but that's the basic gist of it. I'm kinda glad that I'm wiping my hands clean of this story, it wasn't that good anyway.

Stay tuned for the reboot for:

The Alicorns of Light, now with star names!

A trip to the unexplored west!

Tons of D&D references!

A high fantasy story with a Sci-Fi twist!

And more action!
