A Heart-Felt Thank You · 5:45am Jun 26th, 2014
I thank every last one of you who has read my story. For those of you who have quietly enjoyed it, thank you for the like, favorite, or even just taking the time to read it. For those of you who have quietly disliked it, thank you for leaving a dislike and not taking it any further than that. For those of you who have been LOUD AND PROUD with your enjoyment, thank you for the encouragement and praise! My ego is satisfied. And lastly, to those of you who have been vocal about your distaste for my writing, I reserve the very last thank you for being at best constructive and helping me to improve, and at worst just damn funny.
It should be obvious by now that I thrive on the input and reactions of my audience, both ego-inflation from the good and lulz from the bad. When I started writing, I didn't expect a positive reaction. I was readying myself for a downpour of fire and brimstone the likes of which the internet had never seen.
Dramatic? Yes.
Does it get my message across? Yes. I was not expecting to breach one-thousand likes and (currently) nearly six-thousand views. It's still jarring to me to think about. That one sixth of all the people who read my story thought it good enough to warrant a fave and/or a like is mind-boggling.
This is simultaneously the most and least successful joke of my life.
Most, because people genuinely like what I'm doing.
Least, because people genuinely like what I'm doing.
While there are still many people angry enough to start flame-wars or pointless debates in the comments, it's drowned out immensely by the positive reviews and idle banter between the other readers and myself. I am in uncharted territory, and I'm not sure where to go from here.
So thank you all again, and please be patient while I figure this shit out.
You're no more lost than the rest of us, you Sassy Sonuvabitch. Cheers on a damn fine story.
2235304 My attempted troll failed so spectacularly it got over one-thousand genuine likes.
Not sure if pain in chest is immense pride or crushing failure.
It has all the elements of the most hated fics in MLP fanfiction.
OOC mane six
Depressed HiE
Useless protagonist
Discord chaos lawl
Protagonist's tragic backstory
Blatantly and deliberately ripping off the work of another (MisterBlonde's original "Ending")
Constantly shifting perspectives
This was SUPPOSED to be a bad story, but I fucked up and made it all work.
Maybe I just enjoy suffering...
Yes....
Yes...
2235322 But what is hate if not an overabundance of love? What makes a bad story good if not the combination of bad elements making it so? What makes a good story bad if not for the few bad elements dragging it down?
Sorry, just finished reading 'Background Pony' and am feeling empty and philosophical at the moment. Whatever your intentions were posting your story, it's a great one nevertheless.
It's a really interesting story. I mean, it's not everyday that there's a HiE story where the human doesn't get a free trip to the paradise he imagined.
well glad you were a hit! also im happy that you look on the bright side and see there way more positive than negative. there's some people who just bring out the few negatives and act like its the end of the world... happy for your success
Also i wouldn't say he has a tragic backstory more like he made a stupid decision without thinking things through and now he's fucking paying for it. Rekt m8
2235322 Dying
Well, it's not every day the HiE has it so rough that he attempts to commit suicide. It sets the bar pretty high for "What the fuck is happening in this fic?"
And y'know, even with the re-write of a few chapters, taking the story on a different tangent, it's still turning out great.
That being said, there's so much room for possibilities in the story. Is our hero going to actually make it to Canterlot? (Calling it right now, Discord happens) Is Celestia going to find out what happened?
SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES!!!
2235406 I ACCIDENTALLY THE WHOLE STORY
2235762 Hah, that's the most fun thing of life. Always expect the unexpected :)

Stalking your comment like no one business
Ehhmmm..... Consider it prideful failure
If Jason Wright was voiced, what would he sound like? Also, witch one of your stories are you talking about?
2651837 Exactly this.
