Cadence's Back Story · 1:12pm May 21st, 2014
Alright as I said in my previous blog, I re-watched "Twilight's Kingdom" and here's another thing I noticed. When Celestia reveals that the princesses must transfer their magic to Twilight so Tirek can't take it from them, she also says Tirek is more then likely unaware of a fourth alicorn princess.
In that instant, it tells us that Cadence has been around as an alicorn for more then 1000 years. That's a hard hitter for fimfiction writers. That season 4 reveal makes a promising case for when the one of the crystal ponies of the Crystal Empire say, " the Crystal Princess has returned". Now, I know we saw Cadence as far back as the season 2 finale, and in a flashback with Twilight Sparkle, and she looked somewhere around what you could consider preteens. But how can she be in her pre-teen if she's lived longer then 1000 years? Either alicorns grow at a slower rate then all other ponies, magic has something to do with it, or a future Princess Twilight went back in time to save young Cadence from the grasp of King Sombra, since she was not ready to battle his magic at the time, bringing her to a more recent past when Twilight herself was just a little filly. That last one would explain why she loved foalsit filly Twilight the most.
So, one thing I would like to see is if not a backstory on all the Princesses pasts and their points of view, at least give us a backstory on Cadence. They could create an episode where the Princess tell their own stories about learning friendship before the events of Nightmare Moon, King Sombra, Discord, and Tirek and Scorpan. Another scenario that I mentioned earlier, and a rather daring one, add in a new from of chaos is spreading and is not even something Discord could conjure up. In order to protect their present, the mane six must travel back in time to more then 1000 years ago, and save a certain young alicorn and bring her to non-alicorn filly Twilight's present, before returning to their own. A long shot, I know, but it could work it the crew of The MLP FIM series approach it right.
Anyways, I would like to hear your opinions on this and what interesting theories you may have about Cadence's back story. Feel free to comment. I like a good conversation.
I thought the same thing when I saw the episode tho I really only thought of how he could have known about cadence but your head cannon is now my head cannon so yes

Wait which head cannon do you refer to? I had three up there.
Mine is that Luna was a bit tipsy, and shacked up with somepony, or someone, and gave birth to Cadence, Or maybe they have siblings, who gave north to Cadence. Or, taking what one fanfic said, Pinkie Pie, who became an Alicorn, was sucked back in time. It turns out Cadence is an older Pinkie Pie.

It seems to me you really want Celestia to hit you with a frying pan again, little Brother.
Now to your theory: You are right that we see Cadance in her pre-teens. But it could be a Alicorn thing that they are age slower at first and then at one point they "stop getting older". And Cadance was close to this event at this flashback.
It is possibly that Cadance was in a kind of Cryostasis prison where she doesn't get older and was just a few years before Twilight realesed.

or it could justbe that tirek may have recieved information to tartarus from a source, seeing as even in the flashback cadance was an alicorn, tirek had 30 some years, he could easily get information from someonw who could sneak in, like discord. Twilight on the other hand, has only been a princess for under a year.

2132209 Well that was the only episode we ever knew he left, so it would be the only time that Tirek did escape. Like Twilight said, "that was a while ago." Other then that, I don't there was another time Cerberus left.
Cadence's history has already been explored: there's a book by Hasbro.

Unless the episode's villain or moral is to do with the villain Cadence reformed just before her Ascension, there's no need to explore it on-screen.
If it hadn't already been done in a book, there's a good chance it would have been done in a comic.
But an actual episode? Nah.
