    Through Adversity Secret

So has anyone looked at my story Through Adversity in any amount of time? :trixieshiftleft:No?:trixieshiftright: Well that is because it hasn't updated since chapter 5...and my attempts at having it edited too sadly.:ajsleepy: The irony is I have chapter 6 and 7 waiting in the wings. They have been sitting there for years unshared with the public. Knowing me they are not "Top Notch"

So here is a snippit for a new story...Would you read it?

The sky darkened as the world trembled. Voices and screams sounding distant and muted as the dazed mare tried desperately to regain her footing. She was badly bruised, scratched and bleeding from a wound on her head. Looking around her she realized she had fared far better than some of the other innocents, lying motionless upon the ground. Her magenta eyes straining to keep focus when she

Our Pasts That Haunt Us, At Long Last! · 7:09pm Apr 14th, 2014

In case you missed it everyone, chapter 17 of Our Pasts That Haunt Us has gone live, and moved my story status to completed! My first fic is officially done!

But in case you miss the author's note at the bottom of the chapter...I did leave you with a question. Upon finishing the story, did it really seem finished? Or were there questions left unanswered? Shall this really be the end of the story, or just the beginning of a bright new one? I can foresee the possibility of doing a sequel to it, but I am as of right now hesitant with everything else on my plate.

So I'll leave it to you, the avid readers, is it worth going on to a sequel? Or maybe I should just leave it at that? You decide.

you know I'm gonna want a sequel regardless of what everypony else says

I just came back from class and this was the first blog post I saw...
I'm excited to read this last chapter :rainbowdetermined2:
But I'm scared of all the feels that could be in it... :fluttercry:

2009779 Lol really now? Even if AJ is gone? :rainbowhuh:
2009780 That right there is called addiction, there are many like it but that one is yours! :derpytongue2:
2009793 Glad you are happy, and I timed my posting well for you! Don't be afraid of them feelz! :pinkiesad2: They are a part of the great tale ahead!

It felt finished to me. Still sad that AJ got killed, but that happens sometimes. That happens in a lot of my fave AppleDash fics, it seems.:applecry::fluttershysad:

As to a sequel, it would be nice, but only if you feel that one is needed. To me, where it ended is fine.:ajsmug::twilightsmile:

2009857 Mmm yeah poor AJ, didn't feel I should kill her but can't avoid the tragedy tag I gave the story. Though you're fine with whatever I should choose to do with the tale? That is quite good to hear! Glad you enjoyed the story even if we lost Applejack in this universe :applecry:

2009876 Yeah, I knew that somepony was gonna go bye-bye when I saw that tag. (Not my fave among the story-tags, for somewhat obvious reasons.) But you had to do what you had to for the sake of the storyline. I understand that quite well...even if it was my fave gal who bit it.:applecry:

And yes, I am. And thank you.:ajsmug::twilightsmile:

And yes, I did, despite that. I'm just glad that that jerk Gilda Bit the Big One, too, so at least justice was served.:ajsmug:

And honestly, as much as I like to see all our Mane 6 gals make it to the end of a fic, sometimes that's just not realistic, as far as the storyline goes. So I'm always glad when someone follows their own vision for their fic, sticks with it and does what they have to do to make it a good one.:raritywink:

Heck, I even remember when Wendy Pini, the writer/artist of one of my all-time fave comic book series, Elfquest, killed off One-Eye, one of the main member of her mortal elf-tribe, the Wolfriders, near the end of the Quest of the original Volume 1 series. It caused quite the stir among EQ fans back then, and, in that age of "Let's kill a main character off and bring them back to life again!" stuff that was going on with companies like Marvel and DC, she and Richard (her hubby and co-author of Elfquest, got asked (in some cases, even out-right demanded by a lot of their fans and readers to bring him back (I blame DC mostly for that particular bit of nonsense).

But bless her, Wendy, who knows where the story of our dear elves and their World of Two Moons is going, and has since she and Richard started self-publishing it back in 1979, stuck to her guns, and said "No! Absolutely not! One-eye's story is now totally done, and I will not be bringing him back! Period!"

Heh, she got a lot EQ's fans, and especially One-Eye's, upset at her for that stand, but she, like you knew where things were going with her point-eared "kids", and she absolutely will not stray from that set-in-Abodean-stone storyline. And may Timmain, the last of the High Ones, bless her for that.

2009970 Yeah Applejack's last stand essentially. :fluttercry: Yeah if you see my user page AJ is one of my faves too. With Gilda I just followed what I thought would be the most typical representation of her, but I believe she could be represented in a better light...some day :derpytongue2:
As we know the loss of the element of honesty...is gonna have to be fixed somehow! :facehoof: Oh what have I done? :raritydespair: Meh *Shrugs* I'll fix it with that plausible sequel. It's looking like Imma have plenty of material :rainbowlaugh:

2009991 Yup.:ajsmug:

And that's good to know. She needs more of us, actually.:ajbemused::twilightsheepish:

Well, that's cool to know.

And I actually have her as not being such a jerk (and nowhere near being a psychopath, like she was in your fic here) in some of my own fics where she's actually in them. (Like the Anthro (what a coinky-dink, huh?) AU one that I'm currently working on.) She's actually really nice in it (them)...although she does have her moments. (Who among us doesn't, though?:raritywink:)

Yes, it is. And I dunno.:raritywink:

And I know that you will. As you say, you've got plenty of material for one.:ajsmug::twilightsmile::raritywink:

2009838 I guess But i just love your story:pinkiehappy:

2012108 Thank you again!

Last Note for Everyone: It's nice to know that some of you were still watching and reading the story even if you withheld your comments till the end, thank you. And those of you who felt the need to leave me a comment every few chapters thank you as well. I couldn't have made it without any of you! I'm quite sure I'll do a sequel, but it may be a while before I get there:twilightblush:

2013225 Well, for myself, all I can say is, you're very welcome, hun. This fic is (was) quite enjoyable, despite the rather tense, suspenseful moments, and I liked it a lot.:ajsmug::twilightsmile::rainbowkiss:

To the point that I'm happy to hear that you'll be doing a sequel to it. I can't wait to see what you have in store for us with it, but, that being said, just take your time, and we'll be waiting for it.:ajsmug::pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

Hey, anything worth doing is worth doing well, right?:ajsmug::twilightsmile:

2013309 Oh heck yes it is! :pinkiehappy: I'm glad to hear resounding approval! :rainbowkiss:

2013332 Yup.:ajsmug:

And you definitely got that from me! Just keep up the rad work, okay?:ajsmug::twilightsmile:

2013225 SEQUEL!!!!
I can wait patiently. :pinkiehappy:

2014085 :rainbowlaugh: well yer gonna have to! Since I have no idea when I'll start it! :pinkiecrazy:

2014154 So just like me! I have a story with around 80 favorites, and I told them there was going to be a sequel... 12 weeks ago, only to just now change the story to "Incomplete" and continue writing rough drafts of the next chapters. :twilightoops:

Believe me, I can wait 12 weeks if the sequel is as good as this story was.

2014173  Ya never can tell though! Gotta try to work more on my other stories though first before proceeding with a sequel I feel.:ajsmug: I mean, I'm barely a footnote on the site still! :derpytongue2:

2014182 Got it. :raritywink:
Anyways, since I don't really want to study for the next half-hour, which of your other stories would you recommend I read first?

2014192 Shooting Stars is on hiatus:ajsleepy:...and Through Adversity is slowly undergoing edits, but it's first two chapters are done on their re-editing process.:moustache: Chapters 3, 4, and 5 still have to be completed on edits...then I have to start up on writing that again.:derpytongue2: So TA is probably your best choice. Though I'd advise stopping after ch 2.:rainbowlaugh:
Oh and once edits are done on Space Olympics...that one! :pinkiehappy:

2014219 Which reminds me, I should check in with my editor for TA...:twilightblush:

2014232 :rainbowlaugh:
That's probably a good idea. :rainbowwild:
The most I've ever used is a pre-reader, but he's currently off for two weeks due to classes. It lets me procrastinate on the next chapter of "The Lost Book of the Creator." :scootangel:

2014243 Yeah me and my editor for TA are...haphazard workers. Not that we can't kick work out quick...we just get off track :twilightblush: Me probably more so than him.
It's not that I don't write well, but I got editors simply cause I wanted help strengthening a few of my stories up to pro level standards and such.:ajsmug: Not that Our Pasts That Haunt Us wasn't good, but it was intended as MY piece alone.:pinkiecrazy: No one else would write/edit it but me.:pinkiecrazy: When I finally go to write Shooting Stars again...I may consider a editor for it too. :twilightsheepish:
