The dreaded Anon · 1:22am Apr 11th, 2014
Gotta get something off my chest.
I don't like it when authors use Anon in any story.
I understand that some people may like it as a way to get the reader into the story as an insert, but to me, it's just lazy writing, plain and simple. When you make a character just a white space for the reader to fill in, you're wasting an opportunity to use one of the other amazing characters in the show, or create your own. Take risks, dammit.
That's why I like Lero from Xenophilia. He has a clearly defined look and personality. That's why I like Samantha from Girl's Night, because even if that story is short, she tells us a lot about her past, her insecurities, and her sexual preferences. We KNOW these people. It's impossible for us to get to know Anon, because they're just a white space to fill. I see it as the author going, "Here, make your own shit up, I can't be bothered to."
So, that's why you'll never see me use Anon in any clopfic.
good for you sir.
And I like ya even more now.

I can understand your reasoning, and I agree. Also to add, how they make the anon/blank handle conflicts, behaves, and what kind of personality they display just doesn't fit to how some of the readers would act if they were in that time and setting. It seems OOC of US, and that can just turn some people off.
1999513 A-fuckin'-men. There was this one Anon fic I'd seen where Anon is quite honestly a complete dick to Twilight and Pinkie, making Twi angry and Pinkie cry, and since those are my two favorite characters...
Besides. Angry Sex just isn't all that it's cracked up to be.

Okay, I'm quite curious now to how anon did THAT to the 2 of them in that story, and ended up having 'angry sex' later. To me, I would think angry sex would be like getting all pent up frustrations and tensions from a long day or a bad event that happened released where one or both are too exhausted, and possibly more relaxed afterwords. The setting you described sounded more like... I don't know, one getting the other back? Revenge? Rape? It just doesn't sound pleasant from how you're describing it.
1999664 Yeah, basically, Anon somehow got Twilight all angry and stuff, until she decided that rape was the best revenge, and he was all "huzzah! For I have prepared my body for this!" And then she's all angry and basically trying to beat him up while also having sex with him and Pinkie, over in the corner, was just curled up in a little pony puddle, feeling miserable thanks to something Anon said.
And I think the story had started out with the Anon being Pinkie's birthday present, or they were throwing Anon a party... I forget exactly, but it was just all around retarded. darf would have been a more interesting read, let's put it that way. (even though he totally got his measurements wrong for that fic Drop the (b)Ass, because a Butt is 2 hogsheads, or 126 gallons. A butt is 126 gallons, not 40 ounces, darf!!!)

*sighs disappointingly* I may not know what darf is, but I can see where you're coming from. Twilight resorting to rape for revenge just doesn't seem like her in the slightest. Poor Pinkie for whatever the anon said to her too. It makes you wonder though that if conflicts in relationships irl had gone through something similar as this as well? Honestly, it's like some people today are either not being taught, or even devaluing sex's worth, that's it's not just a biological phenomenon of passing one's genetics to another's, and merging to make a new life, or just a way to, I don't know, keep a relationship going as if it were a chore. I'm sure everyone has their own way of defining of what sex is, but I think we can all agree that it's an act where 2 individuals share an intimate experience with consent from both parties giving each other a pleasurable, and happy experience. If one or both is feeling either uncertain, or not okay with going this far, and yet still get into sex, there's a good chance that one or both will NOT be feeling satisfied in the long run.
1999720 Aye, 'tis all the truth. There's so much porn out there these days, and it's so easy to find, that it "devalues" the intimacy of the action between a husband and wife.
Now, if more porn was made while still being romantic and sensual... then it'd be a completely different story.

And don't forget that goes for same sex marriages as well, and quite frankly, I've seen a lot of happier relationships from homosexual couples than heterosexual couples lately. Some of us should learn a thing or 2 from these people and apply them to our own.
2000324 Heheh, yeah, I think so, too. My best friend's mom finally marrying her girlfriend, and dear god, Allah, and the Sexy Shiva, but do they look happy.
2000332
Aww, how nice. I give them my best regards.

I don't know what I came here expecting but for some reason I was a little surprised. Not out of disagreement though, I agree with your opinion.
