Hello!
The story is still alive, as you can see.
This chapter was particularly difficult to write, so I’m glad we’re done with it. I’ve had a rather busy month, which is why it took so long, but Sam was nice enough to keep me motivated on Skype by letting me scream about purple girlfriends and also by checking the story for major plot-hole a/o characterizations flaws.
I don’t really have much to say about this chapter, except that it came out really differently than how I had originally planned it. This chapter is dialogue-heavy, and I was initially stressing about it until I consulted with my uncle, who happens to be a writer, and he gave me a very wise advice: “Listen, it’s your story and your writing-style so you can do whatever the hell you want with it”.
I have to admit that this chapter, for me, is that one chapter you don't really like, but you can't change it? It's a complicated feeling. Or maybe I’m just being too self-deprecating. I’m quite good at that.
EXCEPT WE HAVE A CUTE FLUFFY KISS SCENE SO THERE'S THAT. I have no regrets. None.
Anyway, the next chapter is actually the chapter I’ve most wanted to work on. I wrote almost 70% of it at the same time that I was working on Chapter 3, so it should be a smooth process from here on out. If all goes as planned, it will be the ‘ending’ chapter.
There’s also going to be an epilogue, but I’ve decided it might be better that I post the epilogue within a few hours of posting the ending chapter. The reason for this is because I feel that, in order for the epilogue to really be as emotional as I want it to be, it has to be read while the ending chapter is still relatively fresh in the mind of the reader.
This, of course, means that I have to work on two chapters at the same time, instead of just one, which means I can’t really give an estimate for a posting date (I want to say soonish? Like two weeks? Maybe less because it’s the part of the fic I’m most excited about).
As of now, including what I’ve written so far of the next chapters, the official word count stands at 28.000 words so I’m estimating that the finished fic will have around 32,000-35,000 words. The funny thing is that, when I first came up with the idea, I innocently thought I’d be able to fit this all into a one-shot.
Silly, silly past-me.
I have to admit this has actually been my first multi-chapter fic in a very, very, very long time. While I’ve written a lot of fanfics for other fandoms before, I’ve only once written (and completed) a multi-chap before this one, and that was my very first fanfiction way back in 2008.
Holy cow, I’ve been at the writing game for six years already, and I’m still mediocre at best. Eeeeeh, whatever, I just gotta keep working at it.
