So I listened to all that extremely informative and overwhelmingly helpful advice that so many of you left on my previous blog and I decided to have a go at throwing more vectors at Photoshop and seeing what happens. I spent a little more time on it this time—a whole hour and a half!
In case you didn't know already, the fic in question is a story called Compromise (Still haven't fully decided whether that's the final title or not…). It's a story about Spike and Rainbow Dash in a predisposed relationship, and how they spend the evening together. It's just so sweet and heartwarming. Have a little sample:
“Er,” Spike mumbled. “I just didn’t want to mess up your perfect mane with a pillow.”
He yelped and ducked as two more pillows hissed straight past his head, hitting the wall behind him.
“You were saying?”
He grabbed the pillows, clutching them tightly against his chest, and prepared his counterattack.
Oh? You thought this was going to be all romance? Bahahaha, no. This is a romance story filled with sexy mares with guns, intense fight scenes and breathtaking scenery. This action-packed thriller has stellar actors, including Spike as himself, and Rainbow Dash, also as herself. Prepare your eyeballs as the story of their impending pillow war draws ever closer!
*Gasp*
Okay, no but seriously, it's a really fun fic. I think you guys will enjoy it when it comes out. In the mean time, I would like to ask you guys what you think of this cover art that I've spent the last while on:

Not bad. I've always found that stuff like this is better than relying on artists. They aren't reliable, and most of the time the art you can vector is better. Hell, I threw together the art for Fool In The Rain with MS Paint and Power Point and it looks great to me.
Dash's tail might be a little low on her. It kind of looks like it's sprouting from... somewhere else.
But that's just something I'm picky about. Otherwise it looks impressive.
