Oneshotober · 11:43pm Sep 30th, 2014
It had been my original plan to attempt Oneshotober this year. I had enough oneshot ideas to feel confident enough to write at least a few of them within the month. But after reading one of Rainbowbob's recent blogposts, I've come to realize that I don't want to do that anymore. Instead, I want to attempt something that Rainbowbob suggested in the blog.
NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) asks an author to write a novel of around 50,000 words in only a month's time.
It's been on my mind for a while. I've had an idea that I want written. It probably won't be quite as long as 50k words (in fact, I think it's going to be a lot closer to 30-35k), but I'm still giving myself a month to get it written. That's approximately 1000 words per day. It's quite the challenge, and I'm a little nervous, but I think it'll be good for me. When the month is over, I'll be publishing what I have (hopefully a complete story) in the first few days of November. After that, I'll probably be taking a few days off to bask in my glory and also celebrate my birthday. I'll be nineteen this year. I like the age nineteen. It sounds very mature, while still sounding very young.
Anyway, the story idea I have in mind involves Twilight, Spike and changelings. I really want it to be a piece where I throw Twilight and Spike into a hostile environment and watch them survive. I don't think it'll be groundbreaking material, but it'll certainly be interesting to read. It's a Dark / Adventure.
Onwards and upwards, I suppose. I'm a little disappointed with myself because I wanted to publish at least two of my oneshots I've been working on (and by working on, I mean I've been scratching at in the middle of lectures or something). Since I still have no complete works to show you, I thought I might just talk about a few of them. Most of them are SpikeDash fics, actually. Over the last month, I just had a surge of SpikeDash inspiration. I've had so many weird and wonderful ideas. I'm a little apprehensive about finishing too many at once (I don't want to come across as repetitive or obnoxious by shoving SpikeDash in people's faces and stuff), but I'm really excited to have them completed soon.
So without further ado, I just wanted to briefly touch on my plans for oneshots. Over here in the SpikeDash department, I've been cooking up an AU story inspired by the beautiful Music Video for Avicii's 'Addicted To You'.
I've also got a sad / happy non-shipping story based on those two in the works. I wrote 1200 words on paper and typed it up. It's a very simple idea, and shouldn't be too hard to complete as long as I can get over my stubborn insistance on perfection.
I also have a little SpikeDash series planned, wherein I want to explore their relationship with a touch of the severity I approached About Last Night with. I want to write about a relationship that doesn't start like a fairytail and doesn't have the two characters confessing their undying love for each other. I want to write a story that doesn't have a happy ever after, where instead the two characters have to persist and overcome the obstacles that hinder their relationship. I want the series to really express how love doesn't blossom overnight, but instead it's something you fight for, no matter what life throws at you. And in that relationship, there's both good and part parts. The series looks at Spike and Rainbow Dash's relationship at its very best and its very worst.
If you hadn't guessed, I'm rather excited for that series, and I'm determined to make it as high quality as possible. In addition to these oneshots, I also have a few multichapters taking backseats. These include Being a Princess Has Its Perks and Faking It, which are stories that I have begun working on, but feel uncomfortable publishing anything without intending to continue working on it anytime in the foreseeable future.
Currently published works that are incomplete have no plans to be continued as of current. The Best Night For Pranking is still snoozing on my to-do list as if I actually care much for it. It was a bland idea that's not really worth my time, considering what I already have in the works. I feel uneager to cancel it due to the fact I hate the idea of doing so. However, I think that very soon I'm to be making some pretty big decisions, not just involving this story, but other stories too.
Chasing Shadows is under rewrite. I didn't go about the story the way I wanted to. It wasn't well-received, and rightly so. It's not a story I'm proud of. This will like be unpublished soon.
I'll save mention of Spike's Crusade for another blog where I can address the readers of that story.
Finally, Spike's Rainbow Dash will be continued in November. Right now, I simply do not have the time to handle such a huge project.
I'll be making individual blogposts, tagging the relevent stories as I make them, whenever I start throwing stories around and cancelling stuff. Instead, you can look forward to either my little SpikeDashery oneshots, or my multichapter changeling story due next month.
Thanks for reading.

Well then, Vexy. I wish you Godspeed. Hope you succeed with your crazily big one-shot and this way too big seeming idea behind it.

Thank you.
I think as long as I just stick to writing that 1000 words a day, and simply refuse to break that routine, I will manage it.
That makes me very excited. I love About Last Night so far. Spike seems like he has a very romanticized view of romantic relationships, so him getting a dose of reality in a an actual relationship intrigues me. Especially when it's with a pony that isn't Rarity.
Should prove to be a bit of learning experience for the guy.

Wow, that's one of the messages I really wanted to get across. I like you.
