    Merry New Years!

2018 has been a rough year for me, as I'm sure it has been for many other people.

I experienced a few hardships that everyone will experience.

But here's to 2019. The year I turn 21... in 11 months. That means I'll be able to begin pursuing the job I actually want, soon.

But that's still 11 months off. So for the time being, happy new years to everyone reading this and good luck!

    So this is it, huh?

This is how it all ends?

The DOJ oversteps the boundaries laid out by the Constitution and declares bump stocks to be machine gun, despite a decade of precedence against them. Despite the last time they tried doing this with a 14 inch shoe string, they were struck down with the might of humiliation.

Trump ruins his chances of taking 2020.

    People are stupid...

Heckler and Koch is absolutely wrong on the matter of their mag release.

The paddle mag release (Also known as the European mag release):

Is inherently inferior to a button mag release (AKA: Western mag release):

New Thing. KaBars Gear review. · 1:13am Mar 17th, 2014

I've decided to do something new! Monthly (occasionally bimonthly), I'm going to do a gear review. This is gear that I have used and either like or don't like.

So, today's piece of gear:

The Magpul Iphone 5 case

I have had this case since the first week of owning my Iphone, and let me tell you, I'm so happy I have. Not only does it look great, but it's a forty dollar case for twelve dollars. I myself have had encounters where I have dropped my phone from a lethal height. In fact, just last week, I was getting out of my mom's car to head into school, and I had my headphones in. The wire got caught on something, and I lost my grip on my phone. My phone fell 2-3 feet, and my heart stopped. I scrambled to pick the phone up and found... nothing. The case was perfectly fine. Now, mind you, the phone had fallen on rough concrete, and there was not a scratch on the case. No nicks, no nothing.

Now the case is made of durable thermoplastics, atleast according to Magpul. The case has absolutely no square edges, and as such, does not snag. The cutouts for the headphone jacks, the mute button, and the charging jack are generous. Allowing just about any aftermarket headphones and docks to work. The case is thick enough so that if you lay it face down, the face is elevated.

The case is grippy, but not the kind where you can't let go. Magpul reused the ribs on the Pmag, and put them on the back of this case. This gives you better grip.

Who is this case for?:

This case is for people who want a case that is slim and minimum, but give you the maximum amount of protection capable. This case is not for extremely dusty/sandy or wet environments.

They also have this case for the Iphone 3 and 4, as well as the Ipad mini, and the Galaxy S 3 and 4

I don't own a cellphone, so I can't fully assess this product as you just did. But what I can say is that I fucking HATE Magpul magazines. Fucking feed lips can actually melt on the plastic mags and get stuck in the mag well. Shit almost got my big ass killed. Only gear queers bought those things...just like they bought pistol lanyards. Old school STANAG mags for me, thanks.

Well, I can't comment on a Pmag since I haven't had a chance to use one extensively, but I can say that this phone case is awesome.

And, really? No phone? That's kind of a rarity nowadays.

2341822

Trust me, dude. They suck. Sometimes they even warp when you leave 'em out in the sun too long. Then the spring doesn't work properly afterwards. Then some a-hole pops a corner and you don't have a round chambered. And then you know what comes after... All aboard the Death Train!!...next stop: 7.62x39mm Perforation Station.

"That's kind of a :raritystarry: nowadays." Sorry. Had to do it.

And yeah...guess I'm just a bit of a cave-man. They're just...fuckin' noisy, dude. They be the very bowels from whence all modern, vexatious malfeasances are birthed, and serve as a stark contrast to firearms...which serve as the quantifiable solution to said malfeasances. To each their own, I guess.

Oh, and what do you think about those shitty Danner RAT boots we got issued? Fuck those things, too. The sole was softer than a lubed up Asian baby's butthole, and the binding agent that held the stitching together would actually come apart in extreme heat and humidity. Man...I miss the old school Corcorans. Now that was a combat boot.

2341997

Oh, and what do you think about those shitty Danner RAT boots we got issued?

Nothing to say. I never served. I'm fifteen.

2342004

Oh. Well, that explains all your motivation and whatnot. Planning on going in? Word of Warning: It probably ain't anything like you think it's gonna' be, friend.

2342040

I'm still actually debating in that. My stomach's probably the only thing that's keeping me from just saying "Yep".

And, yeah, I know it's a lot different from the Media's "You get shot at 24/7 and are constantly in CQC!" and more "You'll occasionally get shot at go into CQC, but most of the time if you get shot at, they're either really well hidden, or they're just really far away. Also, you'll be doing other things. I can't be bothered to generalize, but you'll be doing boring stuff."

2342079

"but you'll be doing boring stuff." Squeeze in the words "mostly" and "depressing", and you'll have the gist of it.

But nah...it's an acquired taste, really. It's about 50/50. One half is great benefits...the other half is bullshit. I'm glad to see you're no wide-eyed idealist, friend. A mature way to be for one so young. That cynicism will serve you well in the future.

2342090

I've had quite a few family members serve in the military so I have a small idea what it's like.

Dad was Vietnam, USMC and my brother is a Commander for an LAV in the USMC. Add in a few other family members and one that served in, I believe it was the Corps of Engineers at Eniwetok (God, I hate spelling that name) Atoll when they were doing atomic testing, my family has a military history that dates back to the Civil War.

2342097

Huh. That's pretty cool, man. All my ancestors were Norsemen. I'm unworthy to carry that torch, you see. Ad vacuum.

2342107

...

Ad... vacuum?:rainbowhuh:

2342110

"Into the Void." Also, known as "Voidgazing" or "moon eating." It's when you've dived head-first into ebon expanse and choked on bonedust and ashes...the remains of your blooded life. You sit there in the K-Hole, praying for Light. But Light never comes. The Needle makes you forget, though. It's a Universal Shrug. A Cosmic Sigh. It's saying "FUCK IT!!" on a level immeasurable to mere men. Versteh?

2342133

Sorry, dudebro. I just naturally tend to think everyone is just as weird as myself. Perhaps this can more lucidly explicate my point:

Skip to about 3:50, if you're feeling impatient. All will be made known.

2342162

I apologize, but I'm fairly dense when it comes to songs...

2342167

Patience, man. You'll get it. It takes a certain type of person to be a Marine, you see...well...at least a combat Marine. This will explain all. Promise.

2342174

Sorry about all that. I was pretty high when I wrote it. My point still stands, though. Ask yourself if this is truly something you want to do. Ask yourself if you really think you'd want to spend four years of your youth doing this. And if you're destined for a combat MOS, then you should ask yourself if you care more about your own well-being than your personal pride. You'll have to swallow your pride A LOT, don't get me wrong.

But the only reason you should really do this is because it's simply who you are. A fighter. Warrior. What-have-you. Not for a flag. Not for your family. Because it's your job. Patriotism and the like are all fine and dandy, but the most fervent patriots put their pride in their country above that of their own, personal pride...those types are always the sort to panic under fire. They're too afraid to die, you see. This is the exact inversion of value of what one needs for this job. Versteh, Bruder?

2344405

I'm assuming Versteh means understand.

In which case, I understand.

And as I said before, I'm still thinking it through. Three years of school left for me to think that decision through. May not seem like a long time in practice, but it gives me some time.

2344423

Cool, man. No problem. It's good to think things through. Just remember...that decision to sign those recruiters papers will result in what will likely be the most significant chapter in your life. It was in mine. For good or ill. But all is well, my friend. All is well. Still kind of wasted, dude. Sorry.
