    Update (Without excuses this time!)

Guess what? I'm done writing the next chapter of Manifesto.

I just need to give my prereaders a day or two to look over it, and then it'll go up.

Until then, here's Despacito being played on a guzheng.

    Hey, everyone.

I've somehow gotten out of the habit of posting updates. Oops.

Anyway, you've no doubt noticed that I don't post as often as I once did in the past. This is largely because improvements in my life situation mean I have the wherewithal to engage in hobbies other than writing fanfiction.

    Update.

Goodness, it's been a while, hasn't it? You're probably wondering why my pace has slowed down on Manifesto. Well, there are several reasons, but the most relevant one is that I find myself rewriting large swaths of this chapter as I zero in on the best plan for Sunset to take. I'm basically going back and forth between two ideas that can't really be combined into a single one, and for

    New Story Incoming

In case you missed my last blog post, I'm taking a break from the adventures of Celestia and Daring Do to write the next Petriculture story. At this point it looks like it'll be fairly short -- about two chapters long -- and I recently finished up the first chapter, which will be posted once my prereaders give it a final once-over.

"Maud Pie" · 3:34pm Mar 15th, 2014

And thus, the basic premise behind The Petriculture Cycle was thoroughly and completely Jossed.* I'm still not adding the AU tag, though, mostly because I'm proud of the fact that when I originally came up with the story, it was fully compliant with the canon at the time.

Other things I noted:

1. I don't yet know if I'll be rewriting earlier chapters of Flash Fog to account for Maud, but her overall attitude fits in nicely with my idea that most of Pinkie's relatives take a rather zen approach to life.

2. Boulder is a potential threat to my OTP of Tom x Bloomberg, therefore he is teh worst character ever!!!1!

3. Why didn't they have Tara Strong voice Maud? Is there something in her contract with Warner Bros. that says she can't do the Raven voice for any other characters?**

* Even though the events in Petriculture have been incompatible with canon since season 3, I could still think of alternate scenarios for Pinkie Pie as Twilight's former imaginary friend, but they all presumed that Pinkie Pie's family didn't actually exist.
** That's not a rhetorical question; as I understand it, these sorts of clauses are fairly common in voice actor contracts. For example, I read somewhere that Nancy Cartwright can't do her Bart Simpson voice without the approval of Gracie Films.

I made these same observations while watching. Woohoo!
Also, it's nice to see that Pinkie's ability to do implausible things with her hair and hooves appears to be hereditary: Maud eviscerating that boulder reminded me of Pinkie's Mane-Drill from Bats!

Boulder could be the offspring of Tom and Bloomburg, after all, Tom is obviously rock like, where Boulder looks more like an Almond kernal or such, doubly convex smooth curved as used for water skipping etc.?

Oh well, my family name might be Spice, but I aint no Maud D'hib.

Which means yet again I call a story line, and block the further use of it.

Aww, look at Boulder. hes a real chip off the old block. :pinkiehappy:

Anyway, who is to say that Pinkies family aint results of Trixies Imaginarium when applied to a magical rock field? Of course, Trixie, having been destitute so long, wouldnt realise she hallucinated them into existance, due to the oasis, mirage effect? :pinkiecrazy:

1927587 - Well, doing implausible things with hair might be a general earth pony trait, since AJ can use her tail as if it were prehensile to do things like lassoing.

1927656, can imaginary friends have imaginary friends—or family? Especially since there are now two that are alicorns? Maybe the rest of the Pies—Maud included—used to be Pinkie's imaginary family. The imaginary friends do tend to have personalities opposite their creators, and Maud Pie's is pretty much opposite Pinkie Pie's…

@3: Because it's far cheaper to use a text-to-speech engine. :rainbowlaugh:

Seriously though, I loved the way Maud talked (though I'm not entirely sure she was voiced by a human). :pinkiecrazy:

Maybe instead of her family not existing, they just found her wandering in the rock fields as a filly?

I'm pretty sure all Earth Ponies are some form of element bender.
Earth Bender, Party Bender, Booze Bender, you name it.
Earth Ponies are OP.

Tara Strong doesn't repeat voices. She was asked to do Bubbles for something once and replied "Bubbles lives on another show, but..." And proceeded to come up with a NEW voice for whatever thing she was working on.

Oh please, it's obviously BoulderXRocky, so TomXBloomburg is totally safe.
