One of the things I didn't like about Rum Punch was how I handled Silver Spoon. I didn't want to fall into the trap of making her The Good One, so I didn't do a lot to make her sympathetic. I didn't want to fall into the trap of making her too easy to be around, so I didn't do much to make her dialogue sparkle.
The problem is that I didn't do much with her at all. Scoot and AB feel like Scoot and AB, but Silver Spoon feels like a blank sheet of paper with a few pen scratches, not a pony. (Not to me, anyway.) I know she wasn't the focus, but it felt lazy in retrospect.
Never fear! Weatherbug has dropped the first chapter of a canon Royalsverse story, Heart Of Silver. It has some very rough edges in terms of editing, but it takes that blank little page and fills it out until it's a sad little filly.
