I Think I Set A Record For Least Story Views While Featured · 11:48pm Feb 27th, 2014
So, for those who didn't notice, I rewrote my first story Cross Your I's and Dot Your T's, and for a bit it was the highest featured updated story on the site.
And how many story views do I have today? -1900
Yes, that is a negative sign, and yes, just after reaching 11,000 story views I am now sitting at somewhere around 9,100.
It's actually less bizarre than it seems. What happened was that I, upon adding a new chapter for the rewrite, deleted the older chapter. Upon refreshing, I found that I had lost the views, which is actually what I expected to happen, so I was like "Whatevs, no biggie." What I didn't expect to happen was the disappearance of the original 52 comments. Apparently, comments are tied to chapters rather than to a story. I suppose that makes sense, but it still feels kind of odd to have a story with 141 likes with 100 views and 7 comments. I guess it kind of sucks, but I can sit back with the confidence that the story is now much better than when I first wrote it.
So it looks like, for the second time now, I have to get 10,000 story views even though i technically already had 10,000 story views because I deleted shit. That's okay, I guess I just get to throw another shindig when I do.
Oh, also, I released a bunch of my unpublished stories in a little compiation I call Maple Syrup. Check that shit out. If you don't, I'll write a seperate blog for it just to bother you all. Ultimate Blackmail, mwahahahaha. (That story is tagged, btw)
Yep.
I lost views and comments once.
Made me all sad faced.
I'll go get me some of that sweet eye nectar in a moment
Wow congrats on the featured man!

Thanks. It's actually pretty funny, it went right up there only a few minutes after I posted the story. It left shortly after I took down the other chapter, but still. Being featured for a story I actually like is cool.
Yeah, normally what I do when I rewrite is I'll edit the first chapter. Though it will lead to odd things like the first chapter of your story having 1,000 views and the second having like 200, which is the case with one of my stories.
Though if you want your views back in a hurry, you can always just keep hitting refresh on the first chapter of your story.

The main reason I did a new chapter was because the story is two years old and I wanted the people who liked it back then but don't really read my blogs or anything to know that I'd rewritten it. It worked.
