Alright, so I've been in the mood to watch MLP tonight and after just a couple of episodes in, I happened to see Fluttershy jump into that stream next to her house and then appear under her bridge to give a family of ferrets some fish. And it got me thinking about all of those Human In Equestria fics where the ponies are all afraid of the human(s) because of said character's carnivorous traits.
Now I know they'd be scared that the human(s) would eat them, yet here's Fluttershy giving her critters fish of all things and then there's the fact that a bear is often crashing at her place. So I can't understand why all those HiEs would have Fluttershy suddenly afraid of the human(s) when she is told the character(s) eat meat when canonically she'd not only be comfortable with it, she would've known the human(s) were capable of eating meat upon glimpsing a shiny set of canines. If anything, she'd express her standard amount of fear at meeting new individuals.
With that out of the way, it got me thinking on a bit of fun little lore I could use (if it hasn't been thought of already).
It's concerning pegasi and a possible tolerance for fish. But that's a trope often used in fics anyway, no surprise there, I merely wanted to... build upon it from an evolutionary standpoint.
As we know, evolution generally occurs over a very long time to help a species adapt to survive. Be it mannerisms or defenses in times when predation threatens extinction or the alteration of dietary preferences during long years of famine or when their traditional food source would otherwise become scarce.
That said, I've developed a theory that, during winter that threatened Equestria before the arrival of the alicorn princesses or perhaps even well before it, the pegasi began to catch fish to sustain themselves. With the relative abundance of fish as opposed to their preferred foods, which they would've been competing with the other pony tribes for, they evolved to be better able to eat fish. Then later, when the pony tribes began to mingle, this trait passed on to future generations. End result is that while the pony tribes still retain a largely vegetarian diet in this day and age of Equestria, it wouldn't be uncommon to see seafood dishes on the menus of most common Equestrian restaurants and is practically expected by guests in pegasi homes. In fact, it would be because of this that griffons would have a better relationship to pegasi as opposed to the other pony tribes, seeing as both pegasi and griffon young are seen attending school together in the various cloud cities across Equestria.

WOW... ah never thought of that, that in depth before, and it makes complete sense!
Here's one of my theories on the show...
Ok... you know how season four is mostly gonna revolve around the keys to open the box they got from the tree of harmony right? Well one day I started thinking about ‘why haven’t we seen anything on them if we’re already trough half the season?’ And I started thinking about that for awhile and with some help from my nephew I’ve come to a buyable theory.
In three episodes we have seen three things in common with rarity, rainbow dash, and pinkie that set everything else apart. In the episode Rarity takes’ to manehattan, when she was at the fashion show and she looked to the seat where her friends where suppose to be, they weren’t there. But something happened at that point... her eyes glowed a light rainbow color.
At first I didn’t think much of it but then it happened again in the Rainbow falls episode with rainbow dash and the trophy, and that got me thinking on it a bit more but I still didn’t have anything. That is Intel it happened in Pinkie pride, and I noticed a pattern.
Every time there eyes glowed like that, there was an object that glowed with it, I think those will be turned into the keys because they all still have them. Their eyes glowed when they did something opposite of their element, and there eyes glowing was like the realization of what they did was wrong. Rarity stopped being generous and started being selfish, rainbow dash almost threw away for loyalty to her friends, and pinkie pie tried to make dash laugh, but she was doing it for herself, not to make her friend feel good but to overcome someone else. And every time they realized what they did their eyes glowed and I see that as the realization, and when that happened they new what they did was wrong and they fixed it. And the object was like a reward for doing the right thing and fallowing there elements.
But I see that as those things that they kept from those moments (the roll of rainbow thread, the trophy, and the chicken) are going to be transformed into the keys on some point because they all still have them. That’s my theory.
Who’s next? Well there are only so many left, applejack, fluttershy, and twilight sparkle. My honest opinion would be that twilight is probably gonna be last because she’s the thing that will tie it all together, I’m guessing its gonna be fluttershy next, why I say that is because applejack has already had her own episode, fluttershy hasn’t. And I’m guessing that the next episode like that will have something to do with her. But we’ll just have to wait and see.

Yeah there connected in a way, i just think that it was the realization of what they did was against there element, even though they don't have they elements of harmony anymore, there still tied to them. still not a 100% but that's my only theory... for now anyway...
