    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that you’re causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

Midnight Rising update; Feathered Hearts C&C teaser...

Hey, folks. Here’s my weekly writing update. I’m tagging this as C&C since that’s what the teaser below is about, but the blog is about both it and Unleash the Magic - Midnight Rising.

Status Update and Coming Attractions · 9:20pm Jan 30th, 2014

Hey folks... just wanted to give an update. I'm having more trouble than usual with the next chapter of Five Star Service, which currently stands at just under 5,000 words. I'm not sure why it's causing me some mental blocks, but it is. I estimate another week on it. But on a side note, FSS just hit 50 faves. A still-modest total, but I'd like to thank you all for following it. I've plenty more yet planned with it.

I'm also thinking of writing a companion story or series of one-shots that would show things from the point of view of her partners. How would you like to see Five Stars written about from the perspective of Colgate? Or Braeburn? Or perhaps hear about some of the other shenanigans at the Shemareaton that were only touched upon in passing when Discord returned? Would you read those? Be a way to gain additional readers and generate additional interest for the main story as well.

I guess what worries me is that I'm trying to juggle too many writing projects at once. Currently I write FSS and the Turnabout Storm novelization. I have a sequel story planned on *that* later on in the year, and I've also started editing a HALO crossover fic called Halo: Equestria. To top it all off, I have an anthro (Furry) novel that is finished and I've been meaning to self-publish for some time. So there's a lot on my plate, and of course, I still have may day job. I enjoy my writing and editing, but worry I'm going to burn myself out at this rate. Don't worry, though... I'll relent the pace if I have to and won't leave any stories hanging.

Anyway, folks... new authors feed on faves and feedback. It's been a little frustrating trying to get them, but I realize now I just have to be patient and keep writing. Thanks for following the story, and I hope you all continue to enjoy it!
