The Year of the Pony · 10:18pm Dec 31st, 2013
It's funny how we can measure time. How we can watch the hours reduce to minutes as an entire year comes to a close. 365 days stripped down to mere seconds.
This year was an interesting one to say the least. The C&D of Fighting is Magic, Princess Twilight Sparkle and Equestria Girls just to name events in the fandom. I've been both appalled by reactions and touched by kind words spoken. You guys are certainly a fickle bunch.
If told me last year that I would get over a hundred followers and two hit stories, I probably would have laughed at you, then cried myself to sleep wishing it could be true. Yet here I am, no longer completely drowning in the shadows of mediocrity. I've left my mark upon Equestria Daily, I've climbed to the very top of the feature box and admired the view for two whole days! I've made some wonderful friends of all colors and spread my horizon a little further.
Compared to last year, my writing has improved so much! It's honestly hard to look back at my old stories without cringing and thinking 'I can't believe I wrote this.' But when I look at Sunset of Time and Long Road to Friendship and Crusaders Go! I think, 'I can't believe I wrote this!' It pleases me to think that I've come such a ways, but I know I've got even further to go.
So, what do I have planned for next year, you ask? More writing for sure. I still need to work on the speed in which I write things. I can crank out a chapter of Long Road to Friendship pretty fast, but for my adventure stories, I need some improvement. First and foremost, in 2014 we will see the epic conclusion of Sunset of Time. My apologies to everyone waiting on the next chapter. Writers block and school, followed by the holidays put me way behind schedule. But once I finish chapter twelve, I should be back on the ball.
You'll definitely be seeing more Long Road to Friendship in the future, and as soon as I finish this little 'arc' the Sunlight shall really begin!
To my Concordia fans, if I have any left, I sincerely apologize for dropping you guys like that. Blame Sunset Shimmer. But, once Sunset of Time is over, I plan on giving that story a serious makeover, in terms of writing and plot, so hold on tight, it's not dead just yet.
I've got some new stories sitting in the back of my head as well. Tinkering around with a spin off of Long Road to friendship. Pondering a few Final Fantasy crossovers. I even have a Spike-centric story series that I'm developing, but I'm trying not to spread myself too thin.
Thank you to everyone for making this a great year! I hope your new year is filled with plenty of pony, and you guys making your own resolutions come true. It's ten hours to the new year from where I sit, see you all on the other side!
Still best pony.
A little music to bring in the new year.
Long Road to Friendship put Sunset Shimmer firmly at my number 1.5 on my list of Best Ponies. Fluttershy will forever be number one, but rest assured, you have recruited another Sunset fan. Also, here's to 2014!
The year has been a long one indeed. Who knows what the next one holds for us.
This year's gonna be pretty life-changing for me. Apart from editing a few stories and writing one final story myself, I might not have very much time for this fandom in the coming months. My work hours are picking up, I've got a pretty attention-demanding girlfriend (not a bad thing) and I've got a major editing project coming up in the form of Trixie vs Equestria (as well as yours being an ongoing thing too).
It saddens me to think that those stories on my read-later list may never be touched (including the likes of The Heart of a Dragon, Antipodes and the Austraeoh epic), but real life has to come first, unfortunately.
Happy New Year. Sunset is always best pony. I also really need to catch up on Long road to friendship but I'm lazy and trying to write something semi decent.
1668529 Reality unfortunately comes first my friend. At least you got someone to squeeze. And don't get me started on the read later list, I'll never get to mine.
Have a great year, my friend!
HAPPY MOTHERFUKIN NEW YEARS:
