Just as it says. A very few people may have guessed this, but instead of working on Queen's Vengeance or Destination Equestria, I've been working on achapter for a story that's gone over a year now without an update. Now I'm in a bit of a pickle and I'm willing to spoil a tiny bit of the chapter to get out of it: Nightmare Moon invites the Paladins to spend some time in her palace. Now I'm stuck on A: how much detail I go into and B: as I've never really used NMMbefore nor read many fics with her, I'm not sure how to describe a completely nocturnal world ruled by her, so any suggestion would be very helpful in speeding the next chapter along. As it is, it's sitting at 2K + words and while I did say I was paring it down(a year ago and you have no idea how sorry I am for that IH readers), I do kinda want to do something a bit special to make up for the incredibly long wait.
After this chapter is completed I will start on Queen's Vengeance or Destination: Equestria. Which of those two chapters get updated first I'm putting up for a vote as I have no idea and will go with either one. So just post a comment here for which story you want updated.
to describe a nocturnal world you should probable start out with figuring out what would be different in that world and mentioning some of it to build the scene.
farming could be different, some plants could use magic to grow instead of light, some plants could have adapted by changing their leaves to adapt to light outside of the visible spectrum. or you could simply have the moon become a bit brighter to help the plants along.
if the world was completely nocturnal then why would the ponies bother with a 24 hour day, any number would work.
I haven't read the story in question so i am unsure if nmm won against celestia or what, but if nmm won then why would the government be identical to the current world? you could change details here and there if you wanted, add a minister or two or a night themed position.
I dont have any suggestions on how much detail to go into, but it seems a commonly-shared headcanon that there will be a lot of night-adapted versions of foodplants with leaves that glow in the dark, and small forests and pastures of glowing mushrooms. Changelings may have been involved in assisting Earth ponies in this for many of the same reasons they are so helpful in Fallout; Equestria, so their food sources will LIVE.
A possible reason I've come up with for the glowing.. everything in the shared headcanon might be special clouds that glow with Ultraviolet light to keep plants alive, acting like blacklights and making dayglow anything shine, even ponies.
1668914 The information about Celestia I don't honestly know. And while that may seem odd as I'm the author, the story in question was originally a collab before the last author pulled out mid chapter.
