See, long, long ago, the author Marion Zimmer Bradley edited a quarterly fantasy magazine called, oddly enough, Marion Zimmer Bradley's Fantasy Magazine. In one of her editorials, she complained that everyone always sent her stories about dragons and unicorns but that no one ever sent her stories about cows. So I thought I'd oblige her, and in the little note she sent me with the acceptance check, she said mine was the best from among the deluge of cow stories she received.

"Why I'm Traveling with a Talking Cow," originally published in the Winter 1996 issue of MZB's Fantasy, will be available as a free Kindle e-book over at Amazon for the rest of this week. If you're interested in seeing the sort of story I was writing a dozen years before these Ponies were more than a glimmer in Lauren Faust's eye...
