Regidar recently posted a request for links to experimental fics. I decided to just add a bookshelf, Experimental, and list my favorite and my own experimental stories there. (My stories will probably appear first, because I added
That most-peculiar book, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, describes in Fit the Fourth how representatives of the Amalgamated Union of Philosophers, Sages, Luminaries, and other professional thinking persons confronted Deep Thought, the second greatest computer in the universe, when it threatened to find the answer to
Lots of cons have panels where people read bad fan-fiction for laughs. But they never have panels where people read good fan-fiction. So I'm going to propose one, at every con I go to.
Never read "Big Mac Reads Something Purple" but I enjoyed "Alicorn Cider" to some degree. Although I dislike characters with such painstakingly obvious mental blocks to their own perceiving of the world.
I told you before I really liked Big Mac Reads Something Purple, and don't remember if I mentioned that I think that was because the first time I saw it, it already had the third hopeful ending, and I very much enjoy happy TwiMac. This was sad TwiMac, and I ended thinking it was okay, which suggests that I would have thought it was good if I were unbiased.
I like that Alicorn Cider works for any of the three endings of BMRSP. It took me two reads to get the dream, but I also like that it works for any of the three endings.

Twilight read the letter for the tenth time since Spike had belched it forth. Each time it seemed it had revealed some new bit of information, if the growing pile of books was any indication. Spike had a sudden, probably not entirely inaccurate vision of every shelf in the library being empty, and an increasingly frustrated purple unicorn attempting to stuff them all in her saddlebags, and decided he had to put a stop to this before it got out of control. “Sure is a lot of books,” he mused, lifting a thin lavender book titled Theoretical Research in Neurponynomic Decision-Making. “Probably be a challenge to carry them all.” “Mm-hmm,” she muttered, not really listening.
I liked it. I liked it enough to quote it in Celestia Sleeps In.
