Captain Ardour of the Sky Clipper, a barely airworthy ship, faces a dilemma: he's broke, his ship is busted, his only companion is a silent griffin, and his last hope for work comes straight from the Queen of Whores, with a postmark from Shady.
Hope has brought him this far, but hope has a nasty tendency of leaving a stallion hungry at night. Is this job on the fringe of legality worth it? What’s in the cargo anyway, and will his newly found passengers ever shut up?

Also, I feel like showering you with praise and compliments on how awesome your writing is. So...*showers with praise and compliments*. You're story "Of Steam Gears and Wings" actually got me interested in the steampunk/dieselpunk/mage-punk concept, which in turn has led me to several new interesting story ideas (only one of them a ponyfic). So, I feel the need to thank you for that.

I'm actually not disappointed this is to be the end of your ponyfics. I mean, words are words, story is story, art is art. What does it matter if it's pony or not as long as it's quality? Now, I would be disappointed if you didn't point the way to your future works. I need my Corvus Stultus Scriptor fix.

So are we meant to read these two new fics parallel to each other? Also I assume seeing they are a prequel they will still make sense to people who haven't read Steam Gears yet?
