Updates, New and Old · 7:32am Dec 6th, 2013
Well, Season 4 is underway and I'm liking the way it's going so far. As near as can be seen, the characters we all know are still themselves and the six friends will not be separated any time soon. That means good things for my story, but it also throws a few wrenches in things. So, that means fixing. As stated before, I will be making the necessary overhauls to the story with the new continuity established. It looks like not too much will change, just a few references here and there and the update to Twilight's species and responsibilities. The core of the story will remain the same.
The question now is what to do with the old version of the story. Should I edit the original posting, or should I leave the original up and post a new story file? Or should I have the old file available in a version archive? Unless I get a better idea otherwise, I intend to edit the existing story post.
Your thoughts?
14 December: Here's what I'm thinking right now: I'll continue writing the next chapter to the story with the new continuity in place. When it's done, I will post it along with the updated chapters in a new story post. The existing story will be labeled as "On Hiatus" and given the appropriate sub-heading as the original version of the story. That way it and the comments it received will remain intact.
I would suggest keeping the original around in one form or another. As stories change over time, it's interesting to see what has changed and why.
