I've had a flash of inspiration regaurding "The Maker" that may just help in getting the story going again.
It's been over a year since the last true story update. True, much has happened in the fandom and the show its self, but that is no excuse. It's time I did something about it. So, here's what I'm doing. I'm going to get to finishing the next chapter. But before that, I'm going to update the existing story chapters. I have gone through and revised the story with all the pertinent info from Seasons 3 and 4. I see no reason why you shouldn't have them now. If anything, it will help
You know how in my previous blog post, I said I would leave the old version of "The Maker" up and post the updated version as a new story? Well, I just checked the rules of the site, and it turns out I can't do that. It's explicitly stated in the FAQ that I can't post "rewrites of an old story posted as a new story. [I'm] free to edit [my] existing story, but [ I ] may not post it as a new submission." So, it looks like I will need to change the existing upload and find a new place to put
Well, Season 4 is underway and I'm liking the way it's going so far. As near as can be seen, the characters we all know are still themselves and the six friends will not be separated any time soon. That means good things for my story, but it also throws a few wrenches in things. So, that means fixing. As stated before, I will be making the necessary overhauls to the story with the new continuity established.
It's been a long time since the last update. Sadly, as Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes said: "You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet." However, rest assured that progress is being made. Slowly and surely, the next chapter is taking shape and I hope to have it ready soon. I can't make any promises about when, though.
In the mean time, for those who want it, have a teaser:
“So, what do you think? Chimi-cherrys or Cherry-changas?” Pinkie asked.
The shoe has finally dropped and Twilight Sparkle has been crowned. So what does that mean for "The Maker?" Well, for now, nothing. Based on what I saw in the episode its self and the information gleaned from interviews with the show's creative team, the fundamentals of the show will be intact, but other developments are yet to come. For example, Tara Strong specifically stated that Twilight will remain in Ponyville and that her character, while having more capacity and challenges, will
Seeing as how there will soon be major developments in the story and continuity of the show (not the least of which being a certain unicorn gaining a new pair of wings), I have decided to wait and see what will happen before I continue with The Maker. It's one of the downsides of writing fan fiction for a continuing series: You never know what will develop next and it may not coincide with your own vision. That being the case, everything you've written may or may not become completely
In the original publication of chapter 4, I implied that there is a life-giving connection between all things in the pony universe and identified these links as Leylines. I had assumed that they were some kind of mystical or magical connecting force. Upon further research, I found that that term was not accurate. The term Leylines refers to hypothetical alignments between a number of places of geographical interest. I've since revised that statement. To help dispel your confusion, this is
I've been going over my mental outline for "The Maker" and I have a general idea of how this will all proceed. I've even played it out in my mind a few times and I think it's rather good. However, some of the finer details remain up in the air. I want to have all my bases covered and make the whole scenario as believable as possible. That's when I had this thought: This site has some wonderful talent and some great thinkers. Why not ask some questions?
