That said, there are exceptions to every rule when it comes to writing. I do remember liking Pride's work.

Work continues on Daring Do and the Journey to the Center of Equestria, but I intend to release it all at once and it may end up being quite long indeed.

My goal for Journey is to write a story that contrasts the fear of explicit threats with the fear of the unknown and other primal terrors. Hopefully, I can end up with a fic with the capacity to inspire true terror; The Cough was horrifying, but it was not terrifying. I want to write a story that will make people think twice about reading alone in the dark, the sort of story where once you're done, you find that you really, really want all the lights in your house to be on. Not that there's anything there. It's just a story. But you need that light...

I challenge myself a bit with each of my fics, and this time I have constraints: No shipping, no serious wounds, no monologuing. The challenge I've given myself as far as tying the action into the horror is a climactic scene that will combine the excitement of an action-y fight with the fear of unknown and unknowable dangers while giving each of the mane 6 a chance to shine in her own way. I know how I'm going to do that, but I can't let the cat out of the bag just yet; I do need to have some surprises left.

I haven't forgotten about U-Harmony or Forbidden Lovers, but right now I'm feeling inspiration for a dark fic, so I'm going to ride that wave while it lasts. I do hope you'll all be pleased with the results.
