While It may be a good 4 weeks past my birthday, when I got home today from a live-reading of Scion of Chaos, I got a certain message from one Tailsfox88, (whose story, White Collar is fantastic by the way) telling me of a surprise commission. I followed the link, and damn, I was floored. Probably the best birthday present I have ever received:

With the Scion reading turning out better than I thought, add that the adventure blog finally popped out today, and I'll say, this was one really fine day! Well, I'm in a fine mood, now I just need to pump out a good 5K-6K-ish of words before December. A lack of sleep, here I come!

Holy crap that's an amazing picture, Sweetie's eyes are so intense, I'm going to see these characters this way each time I read the story.

1556490 Well, it was amongst some friends and family that had bought a copy of the book. A mini sort of book launch. One day I imagine holding a similar, and larger in scale event when I come out with my own original story. It was a fine learning experience.

I like Sweetie's expression a lot. Though I actually picture Bloom wearing it more that Sweetie, often directed at Scoots and Sweetie.
Though actually, Sweetie tends to be pretty unembarrassed about her shenanigans in heart.

Wow, I never thought of releasing fanfiction as a book, but judging by how long Scion is, that's quite understandable. And by "bought a copy" do you mean you got it published? Was it self-published? Through some underground secret fanfiction delivery service? I'm just very curious as to how it works for you!

1561014 It was through a self-publishing system that is offered by my local book store. It was a very efficient process. The books were made primarily for close friends and relatives, and because I really wanted to hold a physical copy of my own. I put Scion and An Emerald Treasure together into one book and it came out at about 250 pages. I made a blog post a little while back on the whole thing, with pictures too.

I'm just noticing this now, while going through chapter fifteen: where's Scoots' bracelet? She's had it on since before the three actually departed Ponyville.
1562722 Well, it's not going to be perfect. It's possible that it could be further up on her left foreleg. But you know, the cutie marks aren't the exact same as I described them either. Neither is Sweetie's necklace exactly the same as I had described it. Nor were they ever on a snow-capped mountaintop overlooking the Crystal Empire... But that doesn't really matter too much. I'm still floored by how awesome it is. It would be foolish of me to get caught up on little details like that.
