Just a little quickie update. Still writing semi-regularly, Merc and I have crested the 100k word mark on 1199.

    So, we're only half-way there.

Been a few months, ladies and gentlemen. Been doing hella writing, though, on account of co-writing a grand adventure/romance story with my very, very good friend Merc the Jerk. Collectively, he and I have written... oh... roundabout 45k words on the thing since January timeframe.

Writing chapter dos of Last Love. It’s... coming along. I mean, it’s like 6500 words long, so far, with a tentative projection of it being like 15k words long by the time I’m done with it. Cause apparently I write long as fuck chapters now.

    So it’s definitely “coming along”.

I wane and wax in my creativity and in my desire to write. But I write nevertheless. I've read some books lately, full of healthy tips and tricks and whatnot. One of the ones is "to get excited about the scene you're writing".

    Huh.

Music Review/Ranting (November) · 5:53am Nov 18th, 2013

So, besides writing, music is one thing that is the absolute love of my life. I'm always listening to music. Like, maybe 17 hours out of every one of my days is spent with earbuds in my ears. Music is just another means of escape for me. I grew up with my head in the clouds to escape the shit life I was handed, and now that my life has improved, I'm still trying to escape it because old habits die hard. I live in a fantasy world, and it might not be the most productive thing ever, but it makes me happy. I know that as long as I have music and imagination, I'll be happy.

Anyway... disregarding that little insight into my personality... I'm starting this music review blog for something to do when I'm not writing!

Disclaimer: I'm not a music artist or a music critique, therefore these reviews will not be insightful but rather me appreciating the mood that the music provides and maybe even pricking apart lyrics sometime. Okay? Okay.

Disclaimer: Most of these songs will be pop songs that are currently popular (sorry, Lion). But hopefully you guys will still listen to the songs I'm suggesting.

Song #1

Ohhh, goodness. Eminem.

*Commence fangirl moment* Hessotalentednoonehastalentlikehim...Imeanseriouslyhestheoriginalkingoftodaystypeofmusic. Like... so good. I love his songs so much. His lyrics are so deep, and edgy, and dark, and just plain respect-evoking. *End fangirl moment*

Seriously though? He's a wonderful, wonderful artist whom I listen to very often but should probably listen to even more.

That being said this song is deep, without being too confusing although if you check the comment section you'll find that people are stupid. Seriously? go read some of those comments. Idiots.

But basically, one commenter sums it up in this one wonderful comment made about a day ago;

The song has meaning, but it's not politics or religion. It's the fame. He's friends with the fame, during the whole song he says how he wanted to be recognized for his music, not his personal life. He didn't want to be the cover of newsweek, he wanted his music to be in the spotlight, not him or his daughter, or his ex-wife, his mom, his drugs. He's gone through a lot. And he says "oh well guess beggers can't be choosey." It means he's learned to live with the fame, that is the monster under his bed. And he's accepted that it's made him crazy, and he's learned to live with that as well. If you know anything about Eminem, he says he sold his soul, he uses a lot of "metaphors" in his rap. It means he became shady. The monster could also be referring to Slim Shady, his alter ego. Slim shady is the dark side of Eminem, so he's learned to live with that. He says "You think I'm crazy, but that's nothing!" Meaning he's a lot more screwed up then you think he is. He talks about getting advice and help from Jeff. He also refers to the monster in his song "without me." "I've created a monster cause no body wants to see Marshal no more they want Shady! I'm chopped Liver." He isn't talking about an evil....well he is. The evil within himself, the "dark side" if you will. He could even be talking about his life all together, the dark side of his life. It's all about how you perceive the music, but the real meaning relates to fame. Think Lady Gaga "The Fame Monster." A lot of celebrities call the fame a monster. He's not the first. But the music speaks for itself. If you just listen to the lyrics you will understand, you will hear the emotion in what he is saying. And his alter ego "Slim Shady" 's part. If you still don't get this, try listening to some older music of his. If after that you still don't, try "My Darling" his relapse album. Dark, it is. But you might understand how Eminem speaks about his life and the monsters. You will understand what was going through his head through a lot of music. But I warn you, he says a lot of things, but he doesn't mean them LITERALLY. A lot of fuss over his lyrics where they mean something entirely. And some he throws in to just rhyme, and shock. A lot of his music how ever, is very down to earth. -Just trying to help.

So, yeah. That what this song is about. It's a fun song that has a pretty driving rhythm. It's good for playing on repeat while you write an ultra-cool scene in your fic. Maybe even a fight scene. Something fast paced. Eminem is always fast paced in his songs... 'cause he's a freakin' rapper. But anyway, I'm a fan, and I'm obsessed.

Song #2

Two songs with Rihanna. Look at me go.

This song is very emotional. Frustration, hopelessness, depression... it's all there. And that piano. God. Beautiful.

This song is very much in tune to my own life. I see it as talking about depression... listen to the lyrics. You'll understand.

Anyway, this song is good for a breakdown scene. Or a sad, hopeless scene. In fact, I'm thinking this will be on repeat a lot when I'm pushing through the chapters of It Was The Worst of Times. 'Cause the music fits it just so.

So that's all I have for you today, ladies and gents. Those are just two songs that I'm currently going to be drawing inspiration from. I could put in all the songs I've been obsessed with so far in this month... but I don't really wanna. I'll just leave it at two.

I hope you guys have a great night.

(p.s. five days to go, mofos. five. 5. get. hype.)
