The rankings listed below are from my own personal least favorite to my most favorite episode (of season 2) and a reasoning is listed after each one. But, please be aware that I loved the entire season like I love the entire show, okay? By all means, let me know what you think. Do you agree with me? Do you disagree? Do you love Twilight almost as much as I do? Well, let me know! Anyway, here we go, starting from #26 and working our way up to #1:
26. The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well (Episode 8): I know I'm gonna get some flack for this, since I know a lot of people loved this episode, but I could care less. These are MY opinions. Ever since this episode aired, I strongly hated it, and even after a few episodes that I disliked, this one still makes me hate it most. The reason for that is the second half of the episode. If Mare-Do-Well had been Trixie, and Dash got to see for herself how boastful she was being, it would've taught her a lesson. Instead, what happens? Her so-called "best friends" decide to backstab her and torture her by ALL taking a part in something she so clearly hates and is pained by. Then, what happens? They yell at her, and force her to write a letter to Celestia. It's just WRONG. Sure, all the flashy superhero stuff seen in the episode was cheesy and "nice", but I strongly hate how Dash's friends so easily just punked her, all to "teach her a lesson". So, I guess that talking about things no longer works, huh? Guess you have to go out there and humiliate your friend to prove a point. What a GREAT lesson.
25. The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 (Episode 15): Do you find it funny that I've hated BOTH episode 15's from each season? Both of them are my birthday date, too. Sad. But, alas, that's what happens when I see an episode that I find distasteful, stupid, foolish, confusing, angering, or just downright boring. This one was most of those things. First, the long, strenuous song was just annoying and not at all amusing. Second, the "villains" were nothing more than dumbass retards who made zero sense on what they were attempting to do. Poor Dash got humiliated by never getting cider (it's so evil to torture your main characters, at least in that way) and Applejack and her family were idiots for doing something they had no business in doing. I hate episodes where the characters are made to be idiots and do things that make absolutely no sense, just for the sake of a plot. I was seriously sitting here and screaming that they were stupid to do that deal! I really hated this episode.
24. Ponyville Confidential (Episode 23): From here on out, unlike last season, I really don't have THAT many qualms about the remaining episodes. I really did like almost all of them, quite a lot! But, they have to go in SOME order; just saying "I loved them all! I can't order them!" is a cop-out. Ponyville Confidential is listed way down here because the sheer amount of out-of-character displayed by the mane six towards the Cutie Mark Crusaders. I mean, their actions were truly intolerable and horrid! Sure, the fillies did something they probably shouldn't, but instead of acting adult about it and discussing this face-to-face with them, what do the mane six do? Rainbow Dash tries to give them pneumonia, Twilight creates an entire freaking barrier to protect herself...from fillies, Applejack and Big Macintosh rudely tell their own BABY SISTER to go away, Fluttershy bawls her eyes out at NOTHING, and Rarity loses her temper despite the fact that she didn't even care at first! I love Diamond Tiara and I find the little brat really adorable, but her getting humiliated at the end kinda got me upset, too. Sure, it was unavoidable, but still. Finally, the Cutie Mark Crusaders "apologized" by simply writing a letter? THAT'S IT? A better lesson would've been for the mane six to write fake stories about THEM, and give them a taste of their own medicine. You can't understand something until you've experienced it yourself, after all. The fillies simply writing an apology letter to the town was cheap and a cop-out. I liked the premise of this episode, but it sank halfway through and fell apart.
23. Hearts & Hooves Day (Episode 17): Let's just face it. Straight shipping is boring, especially in a series dominated by females. So, you can understand my disgust when Cheerilee was pitted with Big Macintosh in this. Sure, it was meant to be done in a "funny" way, but it just creeped me out. Maybe it's just me, but straight couples just seem so...wrong. And boring. At least in this series. I don't know; maybe it's just the way I think and the way I observe things. But, anyway, the episode was incredibly stupid. First of all, the Cutie Mark Crusaders got WAY too many episodes centered around them this season; I love them, don't get me wrong, but they got too many. And not even one dedicated to Scootaloo herself? Shame, Hasbro! I did love Sweetie Bell's song (okay, they ALL had a part in it, but I think we're all in agreement that only Sweetie can sing and her two friends can't), but that wasn't enough to get out of the cellar of my rankings. I hated the pairing, the entire plot was just stupid, and the only mane six member to appear was Twilight (and that was for a few seconds). Not really a good episode in the least.
22. Family Appreciation Day (Episode 12): I feel a little bad putting this one here, given how heartwarming the episode was and what the plot was about. But, I just couldn't get THAT into it, like I did all the others still above this one. Granny Smith is a nice old pony (reminds me of Madame Foster from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends), but her being the focal point of an episode? Eh, kinda iffy. I did love the history that was displayed by her near the end; both rather shocking, and sweet at the same time. Also liked how it came into play with Diamond Tiara's great grandfather, or whoever he was. Plus, a lot of Apple Bloom's attempts to get Granny Smith out of going to her school were kinda humorous. To top it off, Silver Spoon (one of my favorites, shockingly) started to clap for Granny Smith first, which was a sweet touch. This episode had deep sentimental value and a good history lesson for the show, but...I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that I hate MY grandmother and I hate my whole FAMILY that I could care less for family episodes. Maybe it's the fact that Granny Smith was basically the star. Maybe it's the fact that Apple Bloom got to hog yet another episode (in place of her big sister, who deserves them more). It's all nice for some people, but just not for me.
21. Sweet & Elite (Episode 9): The only reason this one wasn't even FURTHER down was because of Rarity's pop song. Seriously, Becoming Popular (The Pony Everypony Should Know) is possibly my most favorite song in the series, mainly because I love pop music and Rarity has arguably one of the best voices in the show. But, that was mainly it for my love for this episode. I really hate to agree with Shadow (the dude who makes the Survivor edgics and gave me this idea), but Rarity is highly annoying sometimes. This episode just made her very UN-generous and showed her element in completely the opposite light. She was just horrid with her greed and selfish desires in this episode. Sure, she might've been thinking of herself just because she wanted to further her career, but that all changed when she started to like her "new friends" better than her "old friends", and started to get embarrassed by them. It just made me shake my head in disgust for one of my favorite ponies. Not a good episode for Rarity. Plus, abusing her own cat just to make a white lie? Shame! Loved the song, found Fleur and Fancy Pants to be nice, but hated the episode.
20. May The Best Pet Win (Episode 7): This is what happens when you give Rainbow Dash WAY too much airtime. She gets crappy episodes that make her look like a jackass rather than the pony we all love and adore. I found this episode to be in SUCH low taste that I'm even writing a story on another site on a different premise involving this episode. I mean, it's just terrible how Dash was trying to pick a pet. When you pick an animal that is meant to be your pet, it's a member of your family. You don't test their speed, their intelligence, their coolness, and all that crap. You test their HEART. Can you love this animal? Can it love you back? You don't just suddenly adopt a tiger because it's "super cool" and "you always liked them". Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy's duet was kinda cute, if not corny (seriously, some of their lines during that song made me groan and bang my head against the wall). Tank himself was a sweetheart for trying his hardest to do something that was easily impossible. When it seemed that Dash had come to her senses at the end, she forces Tank to fly on a stupid flying device. Really? You STILL can't accept your pet for who he is? Ugh. The episode may have been cute if done in another way, but I hated Dash here and was truly disgusted with her.
19. A Friend In Deed (Episode 18): As I stated before, picking episodes to list now is much harder, since I really did enjoy almost all of them. But, at the same time, you all know me as the master of debate and arguments, so I can find something wrong with ANY of them if I have to. In this case, I have to. In A Friend In Deed, I had mixed feelings. First, Pinkie's Smile, Smile, Smile song always gets me crying. I really have NO idea why or how, but it does! There's just something about how innocent and how beautiful the cheesy song is! I can't explain it. Normally, Pinkie's songs irritate me, but in this case, it was beautiful. So, there's that. But, the rest of the episode and Pinkie's actions were just...well...so callous, rude, and illogical. I just wanted to groan at most of Pinkie's actions. So, it's okay to harass and badger someone until they surrender and become your friend? Uh, earth to Pinkie, but that's called harassment, and there IS such a thing as personal space, you know. Pinkie then destroys something precious of Cranky's, and after getting sound advice from Twilight, she STILL doesn't stop. Sure, things worked out in the end, but...it was kinda deus ex machina. Things were just TOO perfect to end that way. I know it's the premise of the show itself, but really? It just didn't make much sense to end it that way, but whatever.
18. Hearth's Warming Eve (Episode 11): An alright episode, by most standards. Derpy's cute appearance before the play was adorable, the history of Equestria was believable and unique, and the girls' "acting" was commendable. But, the fact that it was just that, acting, that makes the episode seem kinda pointless and just a filler. Twilight and the other girls' characters were interesting and humorous, with Rarity's pissing me off (mainly due to how she was treating Twilight, in-character or not). I really don't have that much to say about this episode, to be perfectly honest. It's not ranked higher simply because I don't have THAT much joy in remembering it. But, at the same time, there's nothing I truly HATED about it, either. It was just a filler episode and that's pretty much it. Not that bad, but not really that great, either.
17. Baby Cakes (Episode 13): Does anyone else find Mr. Cake's explanation of how his children are neither earth ponies, like them, to be rather suspicious? Kids show or not, I still think Mrs. Cake cheated on him. But, then again, I'm a writer with a very vivid imagination and a astute creative mind. I think a LOT of different things. Eh-hem, anyway, this episode almost seemed to scream "deus ex machina" to me yet again. So, apparently, crying your eyes out and looking like a wimp will get two bratty foals to behave and be good little ponies? Uh...no, I don't think so. But, apparently, it worked for Pinkie. Rarity was once again a jerk when denying to watch the baby cakes (just the way she said it; you all KNOW I'm right), Twilight was used unnecessarily and made out to be mean when she really wasn't (Pinkie WAS over her head in trouble), Pinkie's song made me dunk my head in the sink, and most of the episode was just downright foolishness. Sure, dealing with babies IS incredibly hard, as the episode showed, but it just got solved WAY too easily and I still don't think Pinkie Pie really knows how to handle children. Kinda pointless, if you ask me.
16. The Return Of Harmony, Part 2 (Episode 2): It feels weird not putting two-parters together, not to mention having the second half worse than the first half, but that's how I feel. Things got solved WAY too quickly towards the end, and I feel really bad for Discord. I think we're all in agreement that Discord was badass and truly a likable villain, right? He made a good case in pointing out that he was just a guy who liked having fun, and didn't turn ponies into stone, like Celestia did. Him being forced back into his prison was just wrong and didn't really solve anything, if you ask me. So, instead of just forcing him to listen to reason and trying to be his friend, or doing SOMETHING different, you just turn him to stone again and be done with it? I think the girls failed to realize something: Those who fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. It was the wrong move; you can't fix things by just repeating them. In conclusion, I also hated the discorded girls and their attitudes. Yes, they were SUPPOSED to be like that, but it was just in such bad taste and I didn't like it. Tom the boulder was kinda hilarious, though. Rarity is evil for dumping him just like that!
15. A Canterlot Wedding, Part 1 (Episode 25): So, we JUST find out that Twilight has a big brother. We JUST find out that there's apparently another princess, as if two wasn't enough (both of which we never see enough of as it is). Not really a good way to start off an episode. We don't see Twilight's parents anymore, either. Why not just give us a few brief updates now and then on Twilight's family, or the other mane six's families? What's happening with Pinkie's rock farmer family? Does Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy even HAVE families? What about Applejack's rich family? Why doesn't the show TELL us anything until it's too late? Ugh! Anyway, once again I found myself in tears at Twilight's B.B.B.F.F. song; yet again, I don't know. My body is just REALLY sensitive, and after a life of pain and misery, I get emotional over the simplest or most illogical things. But, it was a very nice song. Other than that, not much to really like about this episode before its second part. Cadance, or whom we THOUGHT was Cadance, was purely rotten. Shining Armor himself? Eh, he's nice, but he seems almost like a Mary-Sue. Seeing nopony believe Twilight when she was telling the truth, thus making the rest of the mane six, Shining Armor, and Princess Celestia all look like idiots who can't see what Twilight can? That got me really angry. Hearing Lyra talk was nice, though.
14. Sisterhooves Social (Episode 5): Starting to get to the episodes that makes it harder and harder to pick and order. Guess I'll rank this one here, purely on the basis of the first half making Rarity act like a you-know-what towards her baby sister. Sure, Sweetie Belle's "helpfulness" seemed a bit excessive and annoying, but Rarity's attitude is simply haughty and horrendous. I still love her, but sometimes I just can't STAND the way she treats others around her. It's like the world revolves only around her and that's it. What is she, German or something? Hard to tell; I'm not good at picking up on accents and mannerisms, since I never took a foreign language class. But, back on topic, while I liked Rarity's clever deception and actually doing the Social with her sister, I just didn't like how she led up to it. She was just so heartless and cruel. That's your baby sister. If she wants you to do something, go and do it and stop being such a you-know-what about it!
13. A Canterlot Wedding, Part 2 (Episode 26): So, the season finale is near the top of my rankings. That's understandable. Last season, the finale was #12 in my rankings. This season, by adding 13 and 15 together and getting the average, the final is #14. So, basically both finales were high for me, but not THAT great that I was so blown away. Finales and debuts aren't meant to be that great; they're simply meant to kick off the season and end the season with a bang. That doesn't make them THAT good. So, in the season finale, part 2, we were introduced to the rather attractive Chrysalis and her band of evil Changelings. Not bad, not bad at all. Plus, seeing Rainbow Dash kiss Fluttershy during the fight scene, not to mention seeing Pinkie's party cannon, Vinyl Scratch without her glasses, the REAL Princess Cadance, Luna, and a few other surprises were quite the delights. The ending song, while depressingly short, was rather nice, too. Twilight has such a beautiful voice. It just annoys me that Luna didn't get a much bigger role, that Celestia was rendered useless (some princess), and how the two newbies basically saved the day with "the power of love". Ugh. Call me a jerk, but that's SO cheesy and predictable. It was alright, but not the best.
12. The Return Of Harmony, Part 1 (Episode 1): So, last season, the average for the debut two-parter was #13. This season, the average is #14. The exact same as the finales. Funny how that happens, eh? But, the big part of this episode was being introduced to Discord. Being voiced by John de Lancie himself was a huge thrill (even though I personally never knew him beforehand, nor did I ever watch Star Trek or have any idea who Q even WAS). Discord is so cool and funny, and he's not really that bad of a guy, if you ask me. Just a dude who wants to have fun and takes it to the extreme. What's so bad about that? Like he said to Celestia: "At least I don't turn ponies into stone." Besides that, Discord's game was rather cliche, and seeing the girls lose their minds was a bit stupid. I mean, it took Celestia herself to send letters via Spike to snap Twilight out of it. Where was Celestia during all this? She's such a lazy-ass. Sure, she may no longer have the elements within her, but she could've helped in SOME way. Just laying back and letting your little subjects do all the work is SO like royalty. It's pathetic.
11. Lesson Zero (Episode 3): One of the two MAIN Twilight Sparkle episodes this season falls in at #11 for me. Man I love that girl; she acts SO much like me. She makes me so happy when I see her. This episode was slightly funny, but slowly turned more and more into Feeling Pinkie Keen as time progressed. Why is Twilight always seen as a naive idiot when push comes to shove? It's so insulting. I mean, really. It's obvious she has some kind of mental illness that makes her react in such a way (her actions are NOT healthy), but does the show REALLY have to have us laugh at her cracking up? How is that funny? It's not really that funny; it's kinda creepy and at the same time sad. Seeing Big Macintosh with Smarty Pants was cute, and seeing the Cutie Mark Crusaders act like foals for once was hilarious. But, other than Twilight being my girl, that's the only reason this episode is up so high. I fail to see what's so funny about humiliating your star characters just for the sake of hilarity. Plus, it was clearly another deus ex machina. I mean, Celestia just HAPPENS to show up and fix everything? She couldn't have shown up at ANY OTHER TIME during the season other than this? I'm calling bullcrap on that one.
10. The Cutie Pox (Episode 6): I think this episode made it up here by default, because I really don't know why it's here. I mean, it's a good episode, and it's pretty cute, but I don't really have anything worthwhile to say about it. Then again, I don't have anything to mock it or bash it for, either. It was just...one of those episodes that had nothing wrong with it, and due to all the others having things that irked me, wound up being in my top 10 for season 2. I suppose I can say that it was cute and funny to see Apple Bloom (as always) get herself into trouble and the chaos that led from it. It was also nice to see seldom-used Zecora and how helpful she was, as she always is. Plus, whenever we see Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, I get happy. Is it wrong to love those two rotten rich snobs? I can't help it; they're just so cute!
9. Secret Of My Excess (Episode 10): From here on out, I really don't have anything negative to say about the remaining episodes. If I DO say something negative, it'll be on the spot, so don't hold it against me. Like last season, I loved Spike's episodes. The poor little guy doesn't get enough love or attention. Either he has an episode dedicated to him (he had two in season 2), or he isn't seen at all. That's how it usually goes. Rather sad. I liked this episode because we got to see just what happens to Equestrian dragons when they mature, and HOW they mature. Rather amusing. Plus, teenage Spike and adult Spike were both hilarious and shocking. The Rarity x Spike moments were somewhat cheesy, but still really cute. It was also nice to see Cheerilee and the other background ponies do a few things. Overall, while Shadow might disagree, since he doesn't seem to like Spike's episodes, I loved this one.
8. Hurricane Fluttershy (Episode 22): I feel that I may be ill. You all know how I hate Fluttershy, right? Well, here I am, with both of Fluttershy's episodes in my top 10. Last season, I hated all four Fluttershy episodes, but this season, I loved both that she got. I suppose the reason for that is because she actually was put into a NEW situation that required her to act DIFFERENTLY. Last season, all four Fluttershy episodes basically had her in the same, pitiful form, just either taking care of an animal, scolding a dragon, staring at a cockatrice, or shuttering in front of a camera. This season, things were MUCH better. Sure, her episodes were cut in half, but I actually LIKED them. In this one, we get to see where her meekness comes from (and it's very understandable; bullies are terrible to one's psyche and mindset), and we get to see her a bit out-of-character to help out Rainbow Dash with that hurricane. I loved Fluttershy in this one, and I was proud that she finally got to do something worthwhile that kept my attention. Plus, seeing Spitfire and all those goofy Pegasi was a nice touch.
7. Dragon Quest (Episode 21): Last season, Spike's episode was #6 on my list. This season, his two are #7 and #9 respectively. Not a bad average for our little dragon pal. I really loved this episode, since it focused on Spike and what he stands for and believes in. We didn't get to see who his parents are (the ones who laid him, not Twilight who hatched him), but we did get to see some hilarious time with him and some older teenage dragons. I found their "challenges" funny and believable, I found Twilight, Rarity and Dash's disguise to be downright laughable (in a good way), and the phoenixes at the end was a nice touch. Now, Twilight has a dragon, an owl, and a phoenix. Lucky mare. What amused me most was that Spike never really denied, at least towards the end, that he was basically a female pony in a male dragon's body. You KNOW that's what he was meaning to say. But, what's rather nice is that, instead of making him look gay saying it, he still loves Rarity and can act like quite the gentleman towards her. Hmm...Spike is certainly unique, I'll say that much.
6. It's About Time (Episode 20): Twilight's second episode tops my list at #6. The only reason this isn't higher is because Twilight suffers more humiliation and injuries than I would've liked to see. Sure, it was "necessary" to prove the point of the episode, but I still don't like seeing my girl get treated like that. Makes me mad. I will agree with Celestia that her hairdo after her "accidents" was rather badass. The whole issue with time travel baffles me and makes zero sense, so I'm not going to go into it. As a whole, the episode was good. It was kinda interesting to hear about the other wacky names that Equestria has for cities, not to mention having Pinkie and Spike spend most of the episode with Twilight. I love those three being paired together; it's a good threesome, since they balance each other out nicely. One is intelligent and powerful, yet naive. One is carefree and whimsical, yet dependable. One is sarcastic and sensible, yet annoying. All three are a great combination.
5. Luna Eclipsed (Episode 4): Naturally, you'd have to be an idiot to not love Luna's breakout episode. It was really the only time we saw her, after all. I hated Luna's different appearance, since she looked more pony-like after being "saved" from Nightmare Moon; her new look makes her look...well...I can't find a good word for it, but she just doesn't look right. Also, what ticks me off is that Celestia allowed her sister to go to Ponyville, on the night that is "scariest", without teaching her about how the world has changed. She made her own sister look like an idiot. Thankfully Twilight was there, as always, to help her out. Twilight and Luna make a very good pair, as I think we all can agree on. Dash was a brat, Applejack was cute, Pinkie was downright irritating, Fluttershy made me sigh and shake my head, Zecora was freaking awesome, the Mayor was a fool, and where the hell was Rarity? Overall, easily a top 5 episode for Luna's appearance alone, but it had a few flaws.
4. Putting Your Hoof Down (Episode 19): These last four episodes are almost a toss-up for where I'm ranking them; they were that good. First, seriously, call me a doctor; I need a doctor. I have a Fluttershy episode in my top 4. That does not happen. I REALLY don't like meek girls, since they are boring and you can't do anything with them. This applies to both real life, video games, TV shows, and much more. Meek and shy girls just aren't for me. But, this episode was drop-dead awesome. First, Iron Will's speech made me crack up constantly, and seeing Fluttershy FINALLY get assertive made me stand up and applaud. I don't think she said anything wrong, either; Pinkie and Rarity got what they deserved. I LOVED how badass Fluttershy got in this episode! Seriously loved it. I figured that she would "go back to normal" near the end, but at least she finally stood up to her stupid pet rabbit...somewhat. I mainly just love Iron Will's "fool" line that makes him sound like Mr. T, and I love how Fluttershy told off Rarity and Pinkie (everything she said was true, too; I would've done the same thing a LONG time ago). Overall, great breakout episode for Fluttershy. I'm happy for her.
3. Read It And Weep (Episode 16): Clearly the best Rainbow Dash episode of the season. She was shown humility the RIGHT way, which was learning it herself, when she found out she loved to read. Then, the chase scene through the town was downright hilarious and awesome. But, let's cut to the chase. Easily, Daring-Do made this episode work wonders. Is she REALLY just a book character? I think she's actual real, and the story is just written about her. She was drop-dead gorgeous, spunky, adventurous, and seriously awesome. I loved following along with her adventure, even if I didn't get the references (I don't watch Indiana Jones movies and all that crap). I actually like her a bit more than Rainbow Dash, honestly. That's wrong, isn't it? But, I can't help it. Overall, loved the episode and I'm glad that Dash learned something without having to resort to making herself look like a jackass, having her friends backstab her, or singing a corny song.
2. The Last Roundup (Episode 14): This was my favorite episode of the season, until #1 popped up, so now Applejack's episode must settle for #2 on my list. First off, I think we're all in agreement that Derpy stole the show. Even if some whiners out there complained like the big babies they are, Derpy sounded perfect and there was nothing offensive about the way she looked or talked at all. I love that silly Pegasus; she was so adorable! Plus, it finally made it clear that her name is, without any doubt, Derpy. So, all those idiots who like that crappy "Ditzy Doo" name can go jump off a cliff. As for the rest of the episode, I loved every moment. Applejack being serious was nice to see, and Pinkie blowing her top over the broken promise was hilarious. Fluttershy's line near the end about nopony filling their hearts made me tear up, too. Applejack learned an important lesson about pride to go with her lesson about stubbornness and over-competitiveness. I just loved the episode as a whole. There was seriously nothing wrong with it to make me dislike it in any way.
1. MMMystery On The Friendship Express (Episode 24): For the second straight season, a Pinkie Pie episode has made #1 on my list. How does this happen for a pony that I really can't stand? HOW? Oh, and don't try to tell me that it was partly Twilight's episode as well, because it wasn't. She may have solved the mystery, but it was Pinkie's episode. It was HER cake, it was HER fault what happened, it was HER amusing reactions to everything that made me laugh, and it was HER ultimate ending shot where she "had her cake and ate it too". I loved the mystery theme, I found Pony Joe and the other two bakers to be humorous and perfectly executed, I liked how Dash, Fluttershy (stunner) and Rarity were all the (first) culprits, and seeing the cake-loving Princess Celestia at the end was really funny. The opening with Big Macintosh somehow not being able to support a cake (when he can drag an entire house) baffled me, and the Cakes' reactions to watching their prize nearly get destroyed were priceless. The only thing that slightly irked me was that Applejack was once again tossed to the side and really had nothing to do during the entire episode. But, that was mostly it. I should probably write my own ranking to sum up my thoughts about the end of season two. I STRONGLY agree with your view of the Mysterious Mare Do Well. In fact, it's my least favorite (well, most hated to be honest) episode of either season. There was a liiiittle bit of what could be called "moral missfire" in Ponyville Confidential. While not as bad there were just a few too many plotholes and cases where it seems like all the blame was put on the CMC when THEY actually felt guilty about the gossip before everyone else did. And they felt like they HAD to keep writing because everyone wanted more! It takes two to gossip, one to talk and one to listen. To allot all the blame to the Crusaders and for the others to learn nothing...yeah it wasn't really fair.

This season definitely fleshed out the secondary cast quite a bit. Poor Scootaloo needs to wait for next season to get a episode for herself, though.
I'd like to see more of Discord, but I understand why they had to get rid of him. Plus, I doubt the studio can afford Di Lancie's voice-over fees!
Anyway, it's nice to see others' views and opinions on things. Variety is the spice of life!
I'm surprised that A Canterlot Wedding-Part 1 didn't get you in more of a rage, considering Twilight's your favorite pony, like me. Twilight was treated awfully in that episode! What did they learn in Lesson Zero(one of my all time favs, btw)? To take her concerns seriously. But what do they do? Ignore her, dismiss her as "crazy OCD Twi". Honestly, it's like their brains turned off at the word "wedding". Dash put up a token effort, but even she was giggling over her dress because weddings are soooo beautiful and the bride is automatically cool because of that. But that wasn't the worst. No, what was the worst was when Twi confronted Evil!Cadence. Her BBBFF crushes her, their friendship seemingly ruined forever. Twilight has told them how much she loves him. She must be devastated. Do they comfort her, offer at least a token "Sorry?" No, they leave her broken and crying and go to the bride, who they had just met THAT DAY and who was a total bitch to them, over their best friend! And then, because that wasn't enough, Celly had to really twist the knife in. WTF!?
I agree with the Mare Do Well episode. What Twilight and the others did was unacceptable and mean spirited completely. I understand if Dash was acting OOC, but there was no need for them to be this cruel and hurt Rainbow. I was surprised Rainbow didn't blast THEM for all she did for them. Who saved Rarity from the Flying Competition? Rainbow. Who gave the other Mane 6 their cutie marks? Rainbow. This is how they thank her?

I do have some points I'd like to make, but I'll wait until I'm a little more awake if that's ok.
Ok, now for some of the points.
Actually, a lot of the list and opinions (other than Fluttershy, who I really DO like), I really do agree with, especially the cruelty in "Ponyville Confidential" against the fillies. I thought that was WAY outta line.
Fluttershy telling off Rarity and Pinkie... again, rather harsh. Yes, it was her trying to be assertive, but there's a line between assertiveness and being a flat-out jackass.
Regarding "The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well", I actually really liked the episode. Maybe it was because it was a Rainbow Dash one, maybe because I found it funny in parts. I'd honestly have put "Ponyville Confidential" at Number 26.
"MMMMystery on the Friendship Express", while a very good episode, I'm not sure I'd have put it at number 1. I'd be more inclined to put "Baby Cakes', "Last Roundup", or "Read It and Weep" at number 1... I'm honestly not sure. A LOT of the episodes were pretty good!
Again, even though I may not completely agree with some of your opinions, I respect them and will gladly defend to the death your right to have them.
Other than that, I really can't think of anything else to say. Your list put it all out perfectly. I can't wait to see both how the Season 3 rankings look and what happens next in your cool stories!

The thing that your argument about Discord is that, no matter his excuse, he's a total fucking prick. "A guy having fun?" Yeah, he may be doing it to have fun, but he's basically mind-raping beings into insanity. Even if he wasn't evil, you have to admit that he does deserve his fate. I know that Discord is well-liked, but can you deny that he deserved his fate?
Other than that, good list. Got a good chuckle out of the whole "straight shipping feels wrong" thing.
89627 Oh I know Rainbow was just downright awful and dreadful in this episode. The problem is that Twilight and the others seem to go the complete wrong way with teaching her the lesson. Honestly seeing Rainbow like this was just idiotic and moronic. There was no real reason for her to act like this and acted boastful for no real reason. Twilight and the others were downright heartless with Rainbow. Nopony acted like themselves and acted NOTHING like the ponies that I came to know and love. Then of course there was the moral where Rainbow was just forced to learn the lesson, she didn't learn it properly at all. The only redeemable character in that episode was Spike since he seemed to be the only one who acted like himself and seemed to be the more rational one.
Again you got off on a tangent. You did manage to sum up the bottom two nicely but both times Rainbow Dash was just as much of a-hole as the others. Also why are you so quick to judge the ponies for how they've always been. They represent their respective elements but they aren't perfect.
And the kiss thing, what is it with you and jumping to conclusions? I heard no such kissing sound during the fight or at any other time.
I seriously don't know if I should be looking forward to how you'll rank Season 3's episodes. You need to learn to not let your personal views of the characters get in the way, complain about the cases of bad writing but only if you can actually tell what the difference is between normal and bad.
And lastly that idea for "Ponyville Confidential" was wrong. Diamond Tiara was the real guilty party and the mane six only reacted how they did to avoid saying or doing something they regreted. I think both of your lists seem to be a bit too biased.
