    I need some help

So, I'm in a rough place. I've been struggling to get enough money for my rent, but my hours have been butchered. I need at least $200, so I'm opening commissions. $15/1k words. DM me for details.

If you'd like to help but don't want a commision, you can donate to my Patreon, here: https://www.patreon.com/Shirotora

I'm in need of money, fast

I just lost my job. My supervisor basically just straight up lied to get me fired. This has been the third job in a row where a coworker screwed me over. So, I'm trying to get a laptop so I can work from home. The problem is, I have no money. my last paycheck is just enough for my rent, and that's it.

FiMFiction Tutorials 3: Staying in Character

How would you react if, in the Avengers, Captain America agreed to bomb a building full of innocent people just to get a few bad guys? How would you feel if Twilight started treating her friends like dirt for no reason? How would you feel if Superman was fighting Zod, not caring about the collateral damage and causing countless deaths?

My computer just died. This has several consequences. One, all the work on my stories that hasn't been uploaded to Gdocs is gone. Two, I can't work on the stories I have. Three, I'm going to be bored without my writing. The good news, though, is that all completed chapters for Nightmare's Dream and Children of Chaos are safe on Gdocs. Unfortunately, among the lost was three chapters for Star Bright, and several partially completed chapters. I guess I'll just have to rewrite them. I'm getting a new laptop in a few weeks, so I'll be back again before too long. I still have the library (where I'm writing this) and will still use it to check my messages and such, so I'll still be active on the sight.

In other news, after one more chapter in Dawn Shield, I'm going to be working mostly on Nightmare's Dream and Children of Chaos. I'll still be writing a little on Dawn Shield, but at an extremely reduced pace. I might even dabble on Star Bright every now and then, but not much.

I know how it feels to be without pc, and I wish you strength in these hard times.

damn, that sucks, Shiro.

How can your work be just gone? Does the HDD died? If not, just connect it to some PC via USB to SATA (or PATA if that drive is old) and download all the data you want! (or if you have some other pc, just connect that drive to the PC directly, it should become accessible)

If the reason your PC died is that hard drive, than it is just really bad luck.

1434751 That's just it. I don't know what's wrong with it. I didn't have time to check it out before going to work.

Nightmare's Dream? I do not know why, but I have no idea what it is, Maybe because of my fu***d up memory, or because I missed something. But, could you remind me?

1434981 My part of the ItB collab.

Can't you salvage your HDD? If your computer died and not the HDD there is still a chance that you can salvage your files.

EDIT: Forgot to read through the comments...

One, all the work on my stories that hasn't been uploaded to Gdocs is gone.

Why? Did the HDD fail? If not you can just yank it out and put it in another machine to get your work back.

Short of the hd itself cooking off, it's just a matter of pulling it and using a cable to interface it with a working pc (like the laptop you're getting). Shouldn't cost more than $10 for a decent cable unless you have some funky SCSI hd from the 90's that requires a full enclosure/interface card at $100+ or something ridiculous like that. (I've got one of those kind of hds on the shelf).

If the pc didn't even beep or make a sound of fans spinning up, I'd say its probably the power supply.

Cool thing about desktops is usually only one part dies at a time. Googling symptoms and whatnot you can figure out what is most likely wrong. "Borrow" a working part from another desktop to verify what is broken and a quick trip to amazon will have you fixed up in a week. In many cases laptops cant be revived as easily. At any rate, as long as you are not dealing with a higher end desktop the part shouldn't be any more then $75-$100 to get you up and running again. Also, while desktops seem complicated, there are only a few (required) parts. Case (not actually required), Motherboard, CPU, Video Card, Power Supply, HDD, Ram, and peripherals (mouse, keyboard, monitor). You can knock out the case, ram, and peripherals as being the problem. That just leaves the CPU, motherboard, hard drive, video card, or power supply. All would have different symptoms and are very easy to replace, with plenty of how to videos around. Like legos. easiest would be your video card, biggest headache would be your HDD, but still straightforward. I'm no professional, but I have built all my own computers and consider myself well versed in the processes of both building and part selection. Proper maintenance will definitely help prolong the lifespan of your parts, but like any machine things break over time and fixing it yourself is almost always cheaper (if you know what you're doing).

Oh... That explains a lot.

Oh dear, It wasn't my RPG "Story" that caused this, was it?

Cause my laptop has been known to crash while posting on it,

1440274 Uhh... sure... so buy me a new one :derpytongue2:
