...it's 600 words. That's too short to be accepted as a story here in its own right* but really too long just to put up as a blog post. I suppose I could start off a collection of short pieces, but to do that I'd need to write at least one other thing to get the whole over the 1,000 word mark! So I'm not really sure what to do with it. But yes, I've written a poem featuring llamas, piranhas and pyjamas in conditions as close as possible to BUCK's, ie from scratch in longhand in 45 minutes. I've even kept the same feeble title (Fishy Business) although I can remember so little of my contest piece that this is almost certainly very different in its details.
* This isn't a specific complaint about FimF, but I really don't think poetry gets a fair crack of the whip on many story sites, precisely because of word-count limits. It's simply unfair to hold poetry to the same numbers as prose: 1,000 words is a very short story but quite a long poem. But what can you do?
