*grumblegrumble* Well, I'm a little late this week aren't I?
That's what having like...3 upcoming tests in the same week will do to ya, gotta spend time studying and stuff...followed by sleeping til 11:30 twice in a row and shenanigans.
*Ahem* Well, for this weeks topic of "NYEEEH", I've partially mentioned it before, with spelling errors, but what annoys me even more when there are blatant spelling errors in the summary/description. That'll look very good to a potential reader when they see a bunch of errors before they even start reading. I know I know, "Don't judge a book by it's cover", but I will in this case. Just this past week I've seen two Fallout stories on FF.net that misspelled "Lone Wanderer". Who is this "lone wander"...or "wonder" that you speak of? Don't care, I'm not likely to force myself to read a grammatical trainwreck.
On a different note, I'd like to discuss something else: Caesar's Legion. What about them? Well...I'd just like to wonder how anyone could possibly think that siding with them is the best choice for the Mojave. I know that people both in and out of universe have mentioned that Legion territory is safe for caravans, and crime free...while at the same time ignoring that the Legion openly supports practices that should have gone out of style millennia ago. When you notice all the rape, murder, pillaging, and all those other lovely atrocities that they commit every other day, you realize that they are only "crime-free" from a certain point of view. Let's not forget the slavery...I've once read something that put a unique spin on the whole thing: They aren't a nation of slavers, they are a nation of slaves. Every man and woman in the Legion is a slave to Caesar's will. Either you get worked to death, or you get sent off to die in someone else's war. There's no in between. How could this be the best?
Also, out of all of the Fallout villains, Edward Sallow (Caesar) is by far the least sympathetic of the lot. The Master was outright insane, although his reasoning made sense. Super Mutants are more suited to the wasteland. Plus he would also willingly back down if you could prove to him that his plan wouldn't word. I'd consider the Enclave as a whole to be the antagonist of 2, and they were made more sympathetic in NV with the introduction of the remnants and Dr. Whitely. While the leadership was evil, the grunts were just everyday men and women who wanted to bring order back into the wasteland.
But Caesar? He was born to a loving mother in the most blatantly morally-white faction in the series. His own megalomania put a rift between him and his fellows. With someone like Colonel Autumn, his naughtiness was a product of his upbringing, unlike Sallow. He just ditched the followers and decided to play conqueror after reading a few history books. Last but not least, his entire empire is sham built out of lies. Most of his followers were raised to believe that he's some sort of god, that his ideas were gifted to him from Mars, but all of us know the truth. He's just a selfish, lying asshole who dreams of being king. At least the Enclave have some weight behind their claims.
Arcade Gannon says it best regarding Caesar's Legion: "What a load of Brahmin shit! Can you believe that guy!?" (paraphrased) "What was the point of surviving the war? Why did the founders of the Followers crawl out of the vaults and drag themselves across the wasteland? So we can pretend that the last two thousand years didn't happen? Play dress up and fight ancient wars all over again?" and "Instead of trying to learn from the past, he recreates it!"
(This dialogue was originally dummied out, but it was restored in a patch. To get this conversation with Arcade, take him to Caesar's camp, speak to Caesar, and he'll start the conversation when you leave the tent)
In short, in a setting like Fallout, Caesar's Legion pretty much opposes the whole message of the whole series, about how being obsessed with the past is a bad thing. Of course war will never change if you try to copy history! They are bad guys, guys that are in opposition to the sane guys. I think I've said enough. Discuss?
Oh, and have some...erg...I would put a cute picture of Celestia here, but it looks like Derpibooru staff is messing with the layout. Meh. Hm...how about a little fact, instead? Wearing freshly laundered pants is so satisfying. So toasty.
The only reason The Legion is "Crime Free" is because rape/murder of slaves is treated as legal, really.
1353613 Yep, I did mention that,

Whoops, only skim-read it. My apologies
Cute Celestia, straight from Derpibooru and the same layout it had yesterday and a week ago.

Here's your daily dose of Cutelestia:

Yeah Caesar was such an ass. An even bigger one when I tried to save Benny. Benny's head exploded when he was punched by the Praetorian Guard and I had to kill everyone using explosives and .22 pistol. Worth it!
I certainly agree, I only sided with the Legion for the achievements. Plus N.C.R. rangers are super cool bad-asses.
Seeing those other posts made me remember the format. Have a gif of AJ.

I'll definitely agree that going with the Legion is 100% good for nobody.
The NCR... is not the best. After all, they represent old world as well. And considering the Kangaroo Court their leadership is? Might lead into apocalypse 2.0.
I'd probably be a lot less OK with your LW supporting NCR if it weren't for the fact that there is no Courier. Thus, he can't stay behind to lead Vegas. Mr. House, I'm a bit iffy on whether he's the second best option, but considering how he treats the Kings in the peaceful ending, I have doubts. Plus, he plans to go Old World yet again... EHHHH DAMMIT

Although unlike the Legion, the NCR is merely modeling their government after a pre-war republic, rather than trying to outright copy it. It makes sense though, when you consider NCR's origins in Shady Sands, founded by people that were descended from a vault. Besides, they are no where near powerful enough to become a new Enclave. Though it's purely speculation, one would hope that memories of how naughty the Enclave was at its height would deter NCR from repeating the past.
Most of the NCR's problems come from its current leadership and the losses from the NCR/Brotherhood war. If you are familiar with them from their depiction in Fallout 2, they may seem better. Even though they had some dirty underhanded deals with the Bishops, they still come across as the best post-war power. Vault City was dominated by fascist douchebags anyway, so screw 'em.
After how many losses NCR took trying to take Vegas and the dam, I feel that it's a huge dick move to pull the carpet out from under them. Once the Legion showed up, they were pretty much railroaded into providing security for the Mojave, and House wouldn't lift a shriveled finger to help them.
Lastly, if you made the right decisions, a lot of the NCR's endings come across as the best.
Primm: The taxes suck, but all the caravans coming through help boost the town's economy, and the patrols along the road provide security.
Boomers: They start trading with NCR, with the help of the Gun Runners.
Brotherhood: They form a truce, and help NCR patrol the interstate and highway.
Followers: NCR lets them stay, and eventually they are able to expand their services.
When you look at the ending for Freeside, if you had the Kings and NCR make nice, it makes me wonder how siding with anyone else is better.
I would say why I feel that independence is...questionable, but I have to go to class now!

I support Independence because the NCR still has that leadership. Cutting them off right in the Mojave would be mutually beneficial to both, since it would force the NCR to stop expanding and would allow Vegas to stand on its own without relying on the Kangaroo Court. Not saying the tourist dollars wouldn't keep coming in (as per House's plan), especially with a brotherhood truce (activate the Securitrons, they'll be too cowed to attempt to raid caravans), just that the military won't be allowed to take over. I also don't like how they handled Goodsprings...
But I see your point. Plus, Olivier (much as that jerk doesn't deserve giving a speech like that given that HE'S responsible for NCR's Mojave problems) does have a point saying that building a nation isn't easy.
Good luck with those classes BTW. Have fun.
