Equestria at War Update - The Way of Fire (2.2)

Hey there everybody! I've emerged from the darkness to help spread the news about another project that I'm working on. As I've mentioned in the past, in addition to being a fimfic author, I'm also a senior writer on the Hearts of Iron 4 mod, Equestria at War (discord link here), which is a fun (and sometimes very time consuming) volunteer project to dedicate

Equestria at War: Shores of Zebrica

Hey hey people, been a while hasn't it? Yeah, it's ya boy with another one of those "drop off the face of the earth and then post a blog post out of the blue" moments. At least they only last a couple of months (usually) right?

A Rainbow of a Different Color Coming Soon! · 6:11pm Sep 4th, 2013

Why hello there, everyone! I come to you with some great news! You can expect to see my new story, A Rainbow of a Different Color, sometime this Friday! I've been hard at work on this story, and I'm excited to finally be able to release it to you all.

First, let me show off some beautiful cover art Ruirik whipped up for me:

If it wasn't clear by the title, it should certainly be clear now who the focus of the story is about. Just as a heads up, there will not be anything regarding Commander Hurricane or the events from the Hurricane Trilogy in this story. It is a completely isolated project that I've taken up while I continue to plot out how I want to progress the conclusion to Hurricane's story, The Summer Lands. Regardless, the change of pace has been enjoyable and has come with its own new set of challenges and tribulations to test my skills as a writer.

So there's that! Remember, if you order now, I'll even throw in the second chapter upon release, absolutely free! You heard me, that's two great chapters for the price of one! You can also expect semi-regular weekly updates to the story as I find time to write between classes. They won't be the monsters that the chapters to Snow and Shadows were, but they will be at least 2000 words, usually in the range of 2500-3500. I hope that will be enough reading material to satisfy your hungers one week at a time :derpytongue2:

That's it for now, folks! I would give you the synopsis of the story now, but why ruin the surprise? It'll keep you on the edge of your seat until it's actually posted, and you can see it then. In the meantime, feel free to ponder about what "Roadack" could possibly be about.

I hope you continue to enjoy my work!

I dun fixed it now, don't worry

1327788

Ooo! I've seen that pic, too. It's awesome.

Has an 'Imploding Colon' fic vibe to it, you know?

I love IC's work, I stumbled across Austraeoh when it was at chapter 127 or something like that and have been following it since. The beginning of Austraeoh especially had that nice, lonely yet free in the wide-open skies that I absolutely adored.

Oh, of course! And the epic tale that permeates it?

God, I wish I could do something like that!

The general idea behind that Epic is largely what inspired me to write Roadack. I certainly think the writing experience and doing something much different from writing essentially war and conflict fics has been worth it.

Hm? Roadack? I don't think I recall that.

Do you have on here? Or is it the fic you got coming out...?

I mentioned in the blog post that I use roadack as phonetic off-hand for A Rainbow of a Different Color, or RoaDC. Like I said in the post, it'll be released on Friday, whenever the mods get around to posting it (which hopefully shouldn't take too long)

In the meantime, feel free to catch up on the Commander Hurricane trilogy! Admittedly, the second story, Snow and Shadows, is considerably better than the first, Of Skies Long Forgotten.
One day I might rewrite portions of OSLF to bring it up to the standards S&S has now set.

Can't wait!

I wish I had the time to catch up on Austraeoh & sequels, but it's so damn loooooooong.

1327825
When I started, I did 5-10 chapters a day, and sometimes over 15 chapters, so I was caught up in a week, more or less.

Of course, that was when Austraeoh was still being written, and now there are... 606 chapters across four stories at the time of writing.

Regardless, it's DEFINITELY worth it.

1327829 My problem is a personal problem of following way, way too many ongoing stories as is. If I don't get 5-10 chapters read during any given day, I just fall further behind. Tossing another 500k+ words on that pile isn't an easy commitment unless I take vacation days specifically for reading.

I might actually do that in a few weeks, I need to burn some vacation in September.

Looking forward to it!

And look forward to the comment storm from me!

~Skeeter The Lurker

This is great! I've always been looking forward to seeing a Derpy story from you!
:trollestia:

Will it be related at all to the Loyalty-verse?

1327803
That's pretty much what drew me in to Austraeoh as well. It was a work of art with it's little oddities of a crazy title, bite-size chapters, and the beautiful imagery in the beginning with no dialogue.

1327825
What 24th said. It's definitely worth it. Even if it is 500k+ more words, it is easy to pick up with those small chapters.

Putting it down, however...:derpytongue2:

Thematically, yes. Canonically, no. In fact, the price of loyalty is about as central to this story's theme as you can get. You'll see how in time.
