Equestria at War Update - The Way of Fire (2.2) · 9:08pm Sep 27th, 2023

Hey there everybody! I've emerged from the darkness to help spread the news about another project that I'm working on. As I've mentioned in the past, in addition to being a fimfic author, I'm also a senior writer on the Hearts of Iron 4 mod, Equestria at War (discord link here), which is a fun (and sometimes very time consuming) volunteer project to dedicate my time to. And so, with that being said, I'm happy to announce that the newest update (and one I had a VERY large role in) was just released earlier this week. Introducing the Realm of Kiria in The Way of Fire update!

This one is important to me because I spent AGES working on writing it. The localization document I started to collect my events and other pieces of writing dates back to August 26, 2020, and the planning document I worked on with the country lead was created in February 5, 2020. It was technically one of the first things I started working on after joining the team, though work wouldn't pick up until much later after the release of the postwar Changelings update I worked on. For over three years, I've been juggling writing localization for this update alongside my other fimfic work (and DMing two D&D campaigns with friends), which has probably been partly responsible for the decrease in my output on fimfic, but those words didn't go to waste. I mean, look at the absolute monster this document became by the time the update was finally finished:

Talk about a lot of words! And that's only about 80-90% of what I actually wrote for the update, because a lot of it was also written directly in the .txt file itself rather than gdocs first. And of that, that's maybe only 50-60% of all the localization in the country; plenty others helped chip in to write things for it, especially as we got closer and closer to release.

But it was very satisfying to see it release on Monday night, and I've had a great time seeing peoples' reaction to the content. So if you're a fan of EaW and somehow weren't aware it had released, then consider this your notification, and an excuse to read a bunch of horsewords I've written that won't be appearing on this site. And if EaW and Hoi4 aren't exactly your thing, at least know that this means I'll have more time I can dedicate back to my stories here on fimfic. Sparrow and Typhoon have been on quite the break recently, but soon it will be time to pick up their story once again!

So yeah, go play some kirin and commit warcrimes or something, I won't stop you!
