    Where I've Been

    So, I've been taking writing really seriously over the past year. I got 15,000 words out of NaNoWriMo; not bad for a busy month running science festivals. I finished the manuscript in June, sold my retro game systems the funds for self-publishing e-books, and joined a forum thread on one of my boards to write 500 words a night. I was feeling pretty good, especially considering I'm finally a

    Hooves Holding Hearts contest

    So, working on the next chapter. No one reading the last one got the hints about the new kid, who is the story's main kid. I'll give these out, and the first person (and maybe a few others) who get it right will earn a small OC cameo in HHH.

    Now, the kid's an OC...but the mother is not.

    Here are the first few hints.

    Hooves Holding Hearts Edit

    So, I changed a scene in chapter four. I changed it because it didn't work, and others complained with a reasonable point.

    It happens near the end of the chapter.

    Spoilers ahead.

    I mean, really spoilers.

    If you haven;t read the chapter, it kind of ruins the punch to know this...

    Ready.

    So, when John is confronting the father....

    What the pre-readers are saying...

    Just so you know, here's some comments on the Hooves Holding Hearts chapter that drops this week.

    "She had a really miserable childhood, didn't she?"

    "Holy freaking s***! Nevermind Jazz, you are not worst parent anymore!"

    "This is both heartwarming and utterly heartbreaking at the same time. You magnificent bastard."

    Story Progress!

    Chapter four of Hooves Holding Hearts is off to the pre-readers! I'm going to try to get a C&D chapter done next, I think. I'm having to split time between pony writing and writing things I actually intend to e-publish for money, but I intend to finish the crop of stories I have, maybe saving a week in summer to write "Doctor Whooves and the Mare in the Moon."

Editors Needed! · 11:40pm Aug 19th, 2013

So, I require some help. I got a notice back from EQD on Hooves Holding Hearts. They like it, they really do. It just needs to be polished up some. Is anyone willing to help me go through it? I've gone through all of it in pen once, but I could use some back-up. The story's very personal to me (for obvious reasons) and I want to share it with the larger community.

In any case, thanks to everybody who's supported me with a kind word or a thumbs up so far on it. I promise you, Chapter Three will punch you in the heart.

I'd love to help, but in the short term, my browser is giving me trouble. where are you thinking of hosting the editing process? Gdocs?

Thanks Bunches! Yeah, GDocs is too useful not to use.

Did EQD indicate what was lacking specifically?

What did they say the problem was? I am afraid I probably would not notice some of the things EQD is a stickler for, without some kind of indication of what it is they think is the problem.

I figured :twilightsmile: love it so...when it works

I guess send me the link and I'll get there as soon as I'm able. :pinkiehappy:

Apparently
* Spacing
* Dialogue punctuation (a few lines were missing quotation marks at the ends of sentences)
* Capitalization
* Its/it's confusion
* Comma use
* Hyphen/dash confusion

Also, apparently I sometimes jump to side character's perspectives unnecessarily. I'm not sure about that one.

Think I triple-spaced sometimes by accident instead of double-spacing.

Funny thing, you don't actually have to double space at all. It's a holdover from the typewriter, but is not necessary when typing on a computer. Though I would probably makes sure EQD agrees first.

I'm a little late here, so I trust you've found someone satisfactory for this, right? I'd certainly be willing to give it a pass over if you're still looking for someone; H^3 is wonderful and being able to help bring it to it's highest form would be an honor. If someone else already has it covered though, that's fair.

Either way, best of luck on getting onto EqD!
