Not Nearly As Complicated As It Looks · 7:02am Jul 7th, 2013
OK I slept on it and I think it's good enough to go with.
This makes it look like we've only dipped our toes into the story, but those first chapters were much, much denser (also because I already wrote those parts and so there's nothing more to really say about them, planning-wise). The pace is going to pick up, but it'll still be more on the easygoing, observant side. Going to try to get the next chapter out before the 20th, when I'm going out of town for a bit.
Also, some progress on Canterlot. I don't want it to get too elaborate and involved, but I also want it to be consistent and jibe as a coherent whole:
Do you see the couple detached cloud houses floating in front of the mountain? Cosmopolitan!
I can't see them. They're in front of the part that's not covered in buildings? I'm afraid they have been turned into undifferentiated pixel mush by JPEG compression (those poor pegasuses! )

They're really subtle because I haven't gotten past blocking them in yet... They're in the upper right corner, right above the long "walkway" carved into the mountain, or to the lower left of the little cluster of buildings on that ledge at the very upper right.
And you have my word the pegasi haven't been crushed into JPEG artifacts inside their living rooms!

Ah, there are indeed two cloudy shapes up there. Also, I failed at reading comprehension and thought that it was already finished.
That Canterlot is just completely amazing. Fantastic design, detail and artwork. Godly.
