Fillystata turns 2 · 8:17pm Jun 27th, 2013
Today it's been two years since I first posted Fillystata on deviantArt. Fillystata was my first ponyfic and my first major piece of writing that I ever completed. I never imagined it would become a trilogy of sorts, and I certainly have come a long way since. So today I thought I'd celebrate this thing that I've somehow produced over the past two years.
Have a bunch of updates in celebration! ^^
First, I wrote a small bonus act to Fillystata. It's a quick little story about Luna and the mystery spell she cast at the end of Fillystata. It also aims to give a little look into what happened to make Luna and Trixie fall in love, something the original story left completely out. Don't expect anything spectacular, though. It was inspired by a little story written by J. Chapman Miske based on a letter by Lovecraft.
Second, the last chapter of Stitch is up, concluding the trilogy at last. It turned out different than I planned, much less gory but still quite dark. It isn't without a little light, however. It also gets a little bit cloppy at one point, but I try to keep it to the sort of non-graphic style I've been using in the other chapters.
Thirdly, I drew a pretty little picture for Fillystata. I hope you all like it. Finally Mare in the Mirror can get a picture too (gonna use Thanqol's excellent picture of Midnight for MitM instead of for Fillystata)
Lastly, both Fillystata and Stitch have been revised and updated. The changes to Stitch are pretty much cosmetic. Fillystata hasn't changed dramatically either, but it does have some additional details and a few expanded scenes. The biggest changes are in act 1 scene 2 and act 3 scene 2. In act 1, the scene where Twilight buys the book has been expanded. In act 3, a small section has been added, describing Trixie and Twilight's time together to hopefully make the romance a little less sudden.
You won't lose much by not re-reading them, so don't worry. The original version of Fillystata will stay on deviantArt, only FiMFiction has the updated version. This may change, but for now I'll keep it that way.
I had hoped to also revise and update Mare in the Mirror, but writing chapter 7 of Stitch, a bonus chapter for Fillystata, and revising both Fillystata and Stitch, all in about ten days, proved almost too much on its own. There simply was no way I could also work on Mare in the Mirror. I also didn't find the time to read the Case of Charles Dexter Ward again as I had wanted :(
Mare in the Mirror will get updated too, however, it will just have to wait a week or two. I will likely add a bonus chapter to Mare in the Mirror too, along with the update, but I have no idea what it'll be yet. Wishes are welcome.
So that's it. Two years. I wonder what the next two will bring. For now I'm gonna lean back and take a well-deserved rest.
Pretty sure Fillystata was the first one of yours I read - still brilliant, it's great to have a little bit more to go with it as well as Mare in the Mirror.
Well, it's been a long, bumpy road. Certainly longer for the writer and shorter for the reader that jumped in at the end if MitM, but still altogether enjoyable from both sides, I should hope. It's certainly a relief to see that MitM finally gets cover-art.
Now, rambling aside, I haven't yet read either of the new chapters, but I can honestly say that the entire trilogy turned out wonderful. Hats off to the completion of this series, and I certainly hope the next project is just as excellent (without pushing yourself, though).
...Darn, still rambling.

Yeah, it's certainly been an interesting adventure. I've learned a lot about the character that I didn't know to begin with, and they've surprised me a lot.
My next project is to continue Uniformity, and then edit MitM. Beyond that ... don't know, but we'll see when we get there

Well, it isn't the destination that counts, it's the trip getting there. Extremely true for writing, since most of the story is based on the trip. As such, us loyal readers will be behind you for every step, griping, praising, and correcting every update.
"The character", and "they've"...

It's never easy to be a writer. Would you believe that in all these two years, no one's ever pointed out that I wrote "desert" when I meant "dessert" twice in chapter 7 of Fillystata?

I would chalk that up as nobody being able to tell which is which at a glance. It's talked about all the time, but STILL nobody remembers.
