But I decided to cancel all future work on Kiss of the Dark.
I thought the solution I had in mind, with keeping the dark version that people were wanting on there while finishing what I had planned, would be the perfect compromise, but after seeing the comments out there...yeah. I thought it would make everyone happy, but it seems like people are tearing each other apart over it.
So yeah. I decided to quit the story because it's apparent that, no matter what I do now, there's going to be a ton of drama to it and...yeah.
I have to admit, doing what I did with the dark ending and then changing my mind about the ending ranks among one of my biggest regrets ever, up there with doing Fallen Apple. And that case got so bad that I quit doing fanfiction for months.
I have no idea what I'm going to do now. I just really hope none of you are mad at me for what happened, and...yeah. I just need to stop and think about what I want to do as a writer now.
But... but... awww.
I'm not mad..... just disappointed that i not gonna know what its gonna happen next in the story.So ..... what are ya planning to do?
Take all the time you need to sort things out. I don't think anyone should be mad at you for this, as it's clearly affecting you heavily.
Though I hope you'll reconsider cancelling your story. You've put so much work into it already and you've built up such a compelling story... I'd be sad to see it go without an ending.

...I don't know. I had already cancelled plans for a sequel, and there was one rather silly story I wanted to do...but now I think I just need to step aside for a while, probably look into therapy.
I should be the one who should be sorry. I was being a selfish ass when I posted my comment. I was angry about your decision, never realizing that what I wanted would affect you until it was too late. After reading this, I feel shameful and guilty. If you ever decide to return , I would be alright with whatever you wanted for Kiss of the Dark.

I got an idea! Since you don't like your dark version of Operation Sunlight, you could just, you know... delete it, and people would forget all about it, and then you can write the perfect ending you had in your mind. Pretty smart, eh?
I know, I know. I am pretty good when it comes to glorious ideas.
This is sad, I just got into reading fim fanfiction and yours was my first story to read (Im still in chapter 8). You just take care, alright. We all wish you well and better days to come.

I considered that, but given that it was already up by the time I considered it, and that people were already getting divided over the ending as it was, that was the whole reason why I had two endings up there, to keep the guys that liked the dark ending happy.
I've always found out that writing what you want to and not changing it based on user comments was always a good approach. Maybe a 'fuck off' once or twice if you need to let off some steam.
It's YOUR story, YOU'RE the one writing it, it's YOUR time invested in it. See the recurring theme here? : )
Haven't even read the story (I watched you for the TwiLuna story ages ago), but this is some general advice I give to you. Write for your enjoyment, and don't change anything based on user comments. (Only thing I might consider is if there is a massive plot hole pointed out.) If you wanted the story to end on a happy note, then do so. Writing a dark ending to 'appease' some of your readers, eh. Fuck em.
I mean, I never said the good version was bad I just thought that it sort of messed up all the tension, I really did like both versions though . Kiss of the dark was a good story. I understand though, your still one of my favorite authors.
I had to do the exact same thing with Believing Stories. Go back a year or at least 6 months later and write it the way you want to. Trust me on this, you will feel better and 6 months or more will be enough time for some people to stop feeling so strongly about everything.
WHAT!? NOOOOO! Why can't you just write both endings and appease everyone? Seems like a fairly simple solution. When I saw the post title I thought it was a late April fools joke but when seeing you were serious, I started flipping out since this was without a doubt one of my favorite stories. You don't have to but I request that the other ending be completed.

Well I am disappointed that this story is cancelled for now (from an earlier comment above, cancellation is not permanent feature on this site as I initially believed). I understand how you feel. I myself have been having thoughts about the whole writing thing, although my reason are kind of based on lack of popularity and what not.
I know I've mentioned this before, but I liked the idea of Twilight possibly being pregnant with Sombra's child at the end. Again, I apologize for mentioning it a third time as I tend to focus heavily on things or aspects I like. This is one of the few stories I have seen that have added depth to Sombra seeing as we had so little of his personality in the show. That and I didn't expect anyone to pair him up with Twilight of all ponies. But you managed to make this work. That and in the good and evil chapters, you showed how strong the love they held for each other was still there.
Corrupted or not, I can imagine Twilight would still love Sombra and his death would always be in her mind. that also brings the question of bearing his child. Being burdened with his image would be difficult. That and the scrutiny the child would face seeing the reputation the father has. But I could see Twilight loving her child regardless and being there for him.
That's all I have to say about that. Although wish this had a proper conclusion, you are the writer and it's your choice and I will respect it either way. As I mentioned before, I myself am having writing issues, different but I am questioning whether storytelling is for me or not.

I personally am not mad and I'm thankful that you haven't taken the story down like another fic that had a very similar cancellation but alas
This is why people need to think before they post comments. The author does not need to cater to your whims. Just because you want something to happen in a story doesn't mean the author has to make it happen. They're the ones writing and controlling the direction of story, not the readers(unless it is that kind of story). It's one thing to have readers point out flaws, plot holes and things that don't make sense and need to be fixed, it's another for the readers to start saying 'oh, you should write this' or 'do it this way', especially if the author has an ending planned. And then bitching when the author doesn't write what you want but what they want? Wow, immature much? It's not your story.
Shame on you all, shame on you. I thought we were better than this. 
Whatever happened to 'love and tolerate'? That's not loving or tolerating, it's rude and pretentious, especially when it goes so far as to make the author so unhappy with their own story that they no longer wish to write it.
I am so sorry this happened, I personally liked both endings and would have been cool with whatever you went with. It was a lovely fic and I enjoyed reading it, I'm just sorry that a bunch of assholes had to ruin the fun of writing it for you.
Perhaps you can come back to it at a future date once things have blown over and calmed down and things in your life get better. Don't listen to the haters and the anyone who tries to make you feel bad for writing what you love. If you like writing it that's all that really matters
I know im late to this discussion and frankly my opinion means nothing but here we go.
Do whatever you want to do with KOTD. you are the author. If people want to bitch about what they want, let em. don't let them discourage you from doing what you want to do.
anyway that's my two bits, I HIGHLY recommend you finish writing KOTD, but its all up to you mate.
I haven't actually read the story yet - it had a compelling premise and was highly rated, but when I initially saw it I was way too busy so I put it in my "keep an eye on this for when it's done" list. So I've got no investment yet in how it turns out. Generally speaking I like happy endings, so if you prefer the "good ending" chapter to the "bad ending" one, I'll skip the "bad ending" one when I do read this and then it'll be as you intended for this reader at least. :)
