Production blog time

92,221 words posted (FimFiction word-count) out of 255,000 total (current estimated finished length)

So I blogged about my writer's block on Coming Back, which is still in full-swing, so no update last Thursday and more than likely no update next week. Here's where 14 currently stands:

1,771 words drafted (MSWord word-count) out of 7100 total (average completed chapter length)

From the piddling 600 words of movement on this, you'd never guess I spent about twenty hours staring at the word doc. Ah well, this bastard'll get written eventually, once it learns how to cooperate.

No graph for The Twidash Project this week. It was decided between Subsolar and I that I'd be writing the next ep, but I haven't done any planning on it yet, so I'm not sure how long to expect the vignette to end up being. I'll sit down and get it planned out and possibly written next week, so if it's not already online by next Sunday, the details will be there then.

10,471 words drafted (GDocs word-count) out of 40,000 total (estimated finished length)

The piddling of fifty words or so came from a quick scene expansion to fix something. I haven't sat down to write this one, since I was so focused on trying to get chapter 14 done. I'm going to devote more of the next week towards working on it, since it's proving easier to work on than Coming Back at this time.

Now, for something with actual movement on it! ...Another one-shot!

4,092 words drafted (FimFiction word-count) out of 4,092 total (estimated finished length)

Another finished one-shot, in need of some polishing and editing, probably going live come Monday. This is my first foray into full-length Appledash, and it's not even the PLANNED Appledash one-shot. This isn't gonna be for everyone, seeing as it's another saucy piece of erotica. My Mare was written for practice on a longer story I had shakin' around in my head, that I'll talk about a little now.

I was quite shocked to find an absolute lack of Appledashlight material in the world of fanfiction. I found a number of Appledash + Twilight erotic stories, a few Twidash + Applejack erotics, and a number of 'Appledashlight' friendshipping stories. I've found two Appledashlight stories written with competence that were actual polyamory, but both are relatively short one-shots. This made me want to step up on the longer form Appledashlight story I've had kicking around, but that story really requires a lot of mature and saucy explicitness to be told correctly. It hinges on a central message about how sex can alter emotions, and hand-waving the sex or writing it inexpertly breaks down the message. In talking about these plans, I caught the ear of Peroth, the writer of Growing Pains, and she expressed an interest in collaborating with me on the story. Peroth is not a person I could reasonably say no to (because, OMG, it's Peroth!), so this stepped up my priority on that story. But, I felt I needed a bit more practice writing explicitly and using sexuality to convey emotions before I dug into that, so I wrote a bit more practice erotica. This time it's Appledash. Still got a planned humorous Appledash on the way, it's just waiting for my schedule to free up again. Possibly sometime when hell freezes over, based on how things are currently going.

So that's where things are this week. I've had a rough time of it, but I finished something again so I haven't completely fallen off the writing wagon. Hopefully everything else will start going smoothly.

I eagerly look forward to the day when I can read me some Appledashlight <3

I am legitimately excited for this.

Of course the one I'm waiting for is Coming Back, but I do enjoy AppleDash quite a bit. It's still the Mane Six pairing that makes most sense to me. The AppleDash project is one of my favorite stories on this site, which is why I was so happy to see you doing the TwiDash project.

I'm really not all that interested in the AppleDashLight story, even if I will read it. I suppose I'm just too traditional (huh, it feels strange describing myself that way) to be able to fully believe a story with a successful three-way relationship. Oh well, I'm sure you stand a better chance than anyone else of convincing me otherwise.

Also, you probably shouldn't be displaying your decimal points to two places, when you're only likely to be able to estimate the final wordcounts to the nearest hundred or thousand. Significant digits and all that. :rainbowwild:

Can you link the 'appledashlight' stories you liked?

That, I believe, is why there's so little polyamory romance available for any ship and why so much of it is just threesome stuff. Aside from writing logistics just in general, it becomes an argument of convincing. It's going to need to successfully convince a reader of the viability for a Twidash relationship, an Appledash relationship, a Twijack relationship, and the Appledashlight triad. But in addition to all of those, it has to argue the viability of a polyamorous triad lifestyle. Certainly made me hesitant.

Small bit of background info, I myself am polyamorous. It made the idea of writing one intriguing, but I was hesitant for a while because I've never been in a triad before. I was married for a while, and my ex and I were both poly so we had some experiences in that world and talked about maybe adding a third, but we never found a good candidate, so some of it's guesswork on my part in terms of actual emotion involved. But I think I can do it right. Hopefully it can help convince a few people, if only for the viability within the story itself and not polyamorous triads in general.

As for the decimals...I'm using a quick and dirty online graph generator. The significant digit thing has been making me twitch, but not enough to offset the laziness. Since you noticed, maybe the neuroses will win out next week and I'll find a way to reduce the accuracy of the percentages to something a bit more mathematically relevant.

Certainly. The two Appledashlights I've found that are actual polyamory are The Nature of Pony Magic by Jondor and one of the chapters of Sexty Minute Shorts by KrazyTheFox. As I said, neither crack 1500 words. It's a slim, slim collection.

961200 Haha, always fun to make someone succumb to their neuroses.

Yep, you understand my potential problems with your Appledashlight fic. I really don't envy the difficulties you'll face. Then again, I think I've read decent rationalizations for every pairing in existence on this site, so I'm sure you'll be able to create a story where I'd be able to see a polyamorous relationship working out. And thinking about it further, I seem to remember reading a fic on here that had all three of the CMCs in a relationship together that I found enjoyable enough. :unsuresweetie:

In the end, it's more the quality of the writing as much as the content of a story that determines how enjoyable a read it is, at least for me. My reading list would be much more restricted if I stuck only to topics that I'm actually interested in in real life.

Man, I picked a great week to take off. Still want something decent to read when I get back.

P.S. I still hate you and you should feel bad

More Spellbound Fireflies shall be awaiting you.

...Now watch that be another lie from an adult.

If you don't I'll make you cry. Also totally just turned my sister-in-law into a brony

961877

Awesome. I'm gonna work on it today, so there should be at least one scene waiting for you.

P.P.S. Blundy......blahblahblah......hiatus.
