    Actually nice content

Have a look at this lovliness.

Remember a while back when I made some Hearths' Warming content, the pony version of Santa and the Krampus. It was a nice thing, a happy thing. The opposite of caribou and zebras. And I finally got something drawn on that subject. The Hearthkeeper, Kampfite, and their Pooka wives Klåsa and Kråmpa.

Why I stopped (and might not restart)

It's a short answer. They broke me. Given some replies in the past, I can actually say to some readers, you broke me.

    I finally found it

Way back when, at the start of the Fall there was one specific image I was mining for context before I had more primary sources. It colored the entire perception of the caribou and gave rise to the ultra-harsh depictions as literal Nazis, and also why I hammer their racism so hard. If you happen to notice, all the women are ponies, and some men as well. Other species don't exist EXCEPT acceptable

    Placed in the monster pen

A popular setting for horror anything is the haunted asylum. See, it was filled with crazy people. Crazy people are all sociopathic professional serial killers, and when they die they all turn into ghosts with have an insatiable drive to kill stupid teenagers. Nevermind that the inmates of asyla generally had even fewer rights and protections than even regular prisoners for a ridiculously long

Help needed from Fallout: New Vegas fans

It's no secret I'm a strong Black Isle fanboy. I believe in the purity of Fallout one and two. It had the retrofuturistic feel and look of the old atompunk pulps, the senseless exuberance and clean lines of streamline moderne and Googie mixed with B-Movie sci-fi and all the little idiot lies that made it fun. There was a frivolousness to it. A joyous abandon when designs aped Mad Max, when people

Sexualities of the Mane Six and others- My universe · 8:26pm Mar 20th, 2013

This is strictly fanon. It's about my own universe, which I'm actually starting to consider calling "The Spoiled Barrel" universe. One Bad Apple spoils a barrel, but that's 'spoil' as in indulge and give good things. You could trope it as 'Spoiled Sweet.' Granted, I made certain i took great heaping gobs of personality from the originals, but by the nature of being ongoing and interacting, changes and revelations are inevitable.

Twilight Sparkle: Twilight is a genuine lesbian, in contrast to the general trend of bisexuality in Equestrian mares. She just barely dodged being a tragic shoujo-ai cliche by being too scholarly. While she was manipulated by pretty mares she was never really in love with them because her studies came first. And then there was Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie was everything she never knew she wanted in a mare. A mystery wrapped in an enigma stuffed in a flaky crust and colored frosting. She wants it to work, and wants it to work for the rest of her life. Among other reasons she abdicated, she was unwilling to face Celestia and Luna's grimly-accepted serial monogamy. She wants to live as long as Pinkie does, or at least be in that range.

Pinkie Pie: Modestly bisexual, leaning lesbian. Being a Cannonite (Basically Amish) that's not really how it is done. While they abandoned the Herding ways of the ancient ones, the all-earth-pony group does not really cotton to Filly Fooling, though they only do symbolic shunning if it happens. The Pie family is a modest abberation, they have not even symbolically shunned Pinkie. There are whispers of political expediency, but Goodman Pie is hardly concerned.

Applejack: Bisexual. She has always been open to all genders of suitors, mostly by the order of Granny Smith. She hated everyone brought to her, but loved the mare she found on her own. The contrasts are half the fun.

Rainbow Dash: Lesbian, with a glimmer of bisexuality. She's been mostly concerned with speed and skill, so had a Twilight-Sparkle-like detachment. That was half the problem with Gilda. The drinking and the bad attitude completed the deal. She is also an interspeciesist, at least in the abstract. Given her relationship with Gilda that is obvious.

Rarity: Bisexual. Her dreams were never limited by gender. Species, yes, but without malice. It was mostly because she knew how to be with ponies. She enjoys non-ponies are friends and has networked freely and well with them in Canterlot. Afte realizing that Pony Tales don't come true the way she thought, she came to realize that the simple expressions of love are truest.

Fluttershy: Complicated. In essence, she has single-target sexuality, like Tomoyo of "Cardcaptor Sakura" has with Sakura. Fluttershy was asexual and fairly aromantic until she met Rarity. Elegance, beautity, brains, care, generosity, all in one. Rarity was the only one she really could love. That she was allowed to is a dream come true.

Spike: Heterosexual, formerly self-identified single-target sexuality. The first elegant pony he met was Rarity, and his puppy love went on until he saw what was actually best for Rarity. After coming to realize there were more fish in the sea he embraced his uniqueness and started trying to get attention from other ladies. He's a strong interspeciesist, with preferences for pony-shaped women though he mayy or may not have a rising appreciation for Diamond Dogs, also-gem-eating creatures.

Scootaloo: Reluctant lesbian. 'Reluctant' in that mush makes her gag. Except with Sweetie.

Sweetie Belle: Bisexual but very lesbian-leaning. She isn't shy about mushing it up with Scoots.

Applebloom: Bisexual. Much like her sister she was being groomed for suitors of all genders until she got engaged to Zecora. Is now in a "Jail Bait Wait" situation until her sixteenth birthday, which is her scheduled wedding day. The old green crone has that etched on a slab of stone.

Zecora: Bisexual. Her training as shamaness gave her a long view of life and love. She knew the moment she met the filly that she and Applebloom would become wives. She was not "attracted" to her body, but her potential. She saw what Applebloom would be, and knew she wished that for her life partner. This could be seen in a "Cardcaptor Sakura" context as well, with Terada-sensei and Rika. Zecora has it easier: despite inadvertantly using old slurs, Granny Smith loves the buck out of her, and was the one that subtly (for Granny Smith) got her to "put a ring on it" so she could have a "zap-zap no takebacks" on her.

Big Mac: Straight. Or object-sexual. He has not been sexually active with Smarty-Pants. His love was platonic until she came to life. Then it was romantic but chaste.

Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon: They are practically one pony in two bodies. Their (extremely) long and (extremely) happy marriage attests to that.

Snips and Snails: Homosexual, solely and exclusively. Had they the nerve to confess they would be the happiest little Colt-Cuddlers in Equestria.

Gilda: Straight-out lesbian. That's a giant no-no in the Griffin Kingdom, especially for a member of the Bald clan whose family is highly placed. Egg Grabbers are no longer subject to fines, jail time or "overlooked" assault but there is a strong social stigma. It's the reason she is an ex-pat.

Trixie: Lesbian. She can flirt and fool but she has passion only for women. She is also something of an interspeciesist, as Roa never turn away allies and those willing to help and care. Skill and willingness matter most, explaining her rather intense romance with Gilda.

Celestia, Luna, Cadence: Bisexual and serially-monogamous. I figured this out after thought. They will outlive any lover they take. But while they have them, they are the focus of all their divine love and care. One line, that I have not yet given to any of them would be, "I will outlive you, but I will never stop loving you."

Bad Apple: Straight... essentially. His sexuality was never that important, even when he had that short thing with Lysandra in Grain Gulch, or in any of the other implied times. Now that he has Luna there is no real need to think about sexuality: he is hers, she is his, that is all. But he can tease Colt Cuddlers like Rosy and Golden for his amusement and be very authentic about it.

Sweet insight. Only important ponies missing are the Dames of the Tea Table, but they all seem straight, monogamous.

You should get into the history of Golden and Rosy sometime. And how much fun Celestia had with them when she found out. Imagine the Princess walking into the barracks after your first time together the night before...

Lime is, a bit of an abberation. Fleur is male-biased bisexual and is moving towards single-pony sexuality with Fancy. And "Temptress" has shown bisexual Connie and extremely bisexual Fireclay.

...What? Reading this was a serious mindfuck. <.<

Also, all ponies are lesbians. Always. Except when it's cute, which is always. Yes, even the stallions.

935217

Vimbert would approve. need moar colt cuddling.

935217

Well, I sure wrote about a lot of lesbians, some of them I wish I could write more on, like Derpy and Carrot Top or Berry and Colgate.

Okay, I'm not getting the whole Zecora and Applebloom. Isn't it technically Pseudo-foalcon? And I'm not getting Snips and Snails. Also whats with all the bisexuality?

934693

Aberration how?

935848

She's straight, actually straight. As opposed to bisexual like most mares.

935793

Exceptionally "pseudo" if that. She's not hot over little bodies and blank flanks. She loves Applebloom in an appropriate amount and manner accordingto age and station. Again, like Terada-sensei who gave Rika a ring and promised it would be good until she was old enough. Love doesn't always mean or need sex. Look at all the young romances.

Snips and Snails just look cute together. They would be sweet together.

The bisexuality is a consequence of gender percentages. Mares and mares are common because there are a lot of mares and there are medical means to make foals.

935866
" Again, like Terada-sensei who gave Rika a ring and promised it would be good until she was old enough" Huh?:rainbowhuh:

935923

I guess my old anime past is catching up to me. It's something from the easrly part of Cardcaptor Sakura.

936407
Never heard of it but okay.

936514

No offense to you, but are you under 20? Cardcaptor Sakura was one of the first animes to be on TV in the '90s, along with ones like Sailor Moon.

936574

To be fair, not everyone was into anime. I mean, it's odd but not terrible. It wasn't so odd he didn't get the reference, all references were cut out of the dub; the only place in North America Terada-sensei proposed to Rika was in the manga, and the part about them being in love (shown by the Illusion card) was redubbed to make her afraid of him.

936689

More talking about knowing of it, as it was on normal channels, just like Sailor Moon and DBZ, two animes that everyone knows about. I am sincerely interested in the age part, because it could just be that he wasn't born or still too young while it was on.

Zombie: eats all of them

I have a bit of a gripe with this; it seems to me like everyone is either homosexual or bisexual for absolutely no reason other than to be homosexual or bisexual. The only straight ones are an OC, an underaged Dragon, and Big Mac who has an object fetish.

Think about that for a sec. You explain that it's because the female to male ratio is skewed in the female favor and the society was at one point matriarchal. But you have Cadence who is in an established relationship that is heterosexual, and you slap a bisexual label on her. You do the same with Luna. You hint that Celestia once had a relationship with some barely-seen male creature currently rotting in a prison cell. Currently, Celestia plays the role of detached observer facehoofing at the antics of everybody around her while past the point of caring about such things in her own life. And here you say "oh yeah, they're bisexual". For what purpose does this serve? I'm looking at it and I literally cannot see one.

The absolute dearth of characters that are heterosexual shocks me. It's almost as if it's illegal for mares to be heterosexual. As someone who is resolutely straight, I would find that a very, very disheartening world to live in. The one crush that one might have very likely has a dozen mares she would probably rather be with instead. "plenty of fish in the sea" is meaningless when practically every mare is like that. Someone like me would basically be relegated to the experiment. The suggestion that females are generally the ones to make the first move suggests to me that the male would have to accept the advance, no matter who it was, because it would be the only genuine chance he would get. Otherwise, what's the point?

939462

What sort ooc grim curmugeon looks at a world of liberated sexuality with only a few blind spots (stallions are generally expected to be heterosexual, like Fancy Pants, Silverstar, Blueblood, and every male OC I've ever made except Golden and Rosy) and see a wasteland of misery. After gorging on abundant and affordable food and settling in to a cozy, available house, with a television packed with drama, comedy and sports you would lament that your pretty neighbor mare is datig another mare? Are you a Christian Fundamentalist? They're the only sexuality voyeurs I know.

939580

You're misunderstanding what I mean. I really wouldn't care what my neighbor mare is doing if she's neither picking my pocket or breaking my leg. As long as she's not making a lot of noise :trollestia: she can have all the fun she wants. My thing is, as someone resolutely heterosexual I would find it difficult to pursue a relationship with someone when there's a dozen mares they could go for instead of some boorish, blunt, geeky male. My actual chances of getting into a relationship as a result are rather low.

939682

Buck up lad. I am bisexual and while there are far more straight women out there I have actually just dated men all my life. Even if the percentages are smaller I still freely chose to date males. Currently it's a college professor specializing in medieval English literature. Doesn't get much geekier than that. There's someone for everyone. Incidentally one of my favorite feel-good fics is about Rarity trying to get a date for that geeky pony she flirted with in "Putting your hoof down."

940076

You know, I had a long response to this, but I let it stew for a while, and here in the small hours of the morning before I finally decide to go to bed I realized it came off as little bit "woe is me" which is a phase of my teenage years I'd rather not revisit. :pinkiecrazy: I will say, however, that your example doesn't really inspire a lot of confidence in a straight person. The only way for a super-nerdy person like myself to find a relationship is with another dude? Yeah, not happening. :ajbemused:

It's also 4 AM. Time for bed. :ajsleepy:

I have no idea why, but reading this wierded me out. :rainbowhuh:
Seriously I don't know why, I don't really know much about your 'Bad Apple' 'verse but I love the rest of your stories, I'm still following some of your changeling fics 'He never had so sweet a Changeling'. Something in this just doesn't make sense, or sit right, but I can't think why, very insightful, but strangely disconcerting for me. :twilightsheepish:
Still have no idea what specifically.
Cool to know though.
Edit: I read through the comments and realised I haven't contributed much, sorry about that, never thought I'd be the one tagging the useless comment at the end of a thread stream. oh well. Sorry.
Keep up the good writing :pinkiehappy:

The bisexuality perhaps? Some folks find if odd.

[url=javascript:void();]>> Gabriel LaVedier

Perhaps, I certainly have nothing agaisnt it though. :pinkiehappy:
My unfamiliarity aside though, I've given it some thought, and I find it good plot-wise as well (not intended as a pun but that depends of those reading this :pinkiehappy: ) having some or all of the characters as bisexuals means it makes more romances possible, and thus caters to the tastes of more people, as well as giving you, as a writer, the ability to be flexible with your characters.
I think I put to much thought into it. :rainbowhuh: :rainbowderp: :pinkiehappy:

Keep up the good work. :pinkiehappy:

Ahh yes. My universe is very interconnected. Stories reference one another.

Honestly, I thought the Zecorabloom thing would be most eyebrow-raising.

941412
Yes indeed, when I read about that my eyebrows gained a little altitude, it's a strange pairing, one that I've never seen before, but it gets points from me for being original, and you clearly made it work, a testament to your skill. I'm also impressed by how well you interlink your stories, so many stories, and one solid universe for a majority of them, that's quite an achievement. Also Mac and Smarty-pants? That to me was a little strange, I've not read the story that takes place in, but I'm now interested in how you pulled it off.
Time to sleep for me though, I can hardly keep my eyes open. Please forgive any spelling errors I made in the comment, or other mistakes. :ajsleepy:

It starts with "The Plaything", gets a few references in other stories and culminates in the (unfinished) "The Hero's Journey."
