    I'm (still) not quite dead...

I'm sorry, I am so very sorry for the lack of updates on, well, anything. A few of you have probably noticed that I've still been putting in the occasional appearance or comment, but as for chapter updates...yeah I've barely written anything for months for various reasons - work sucks, arranging a couple vacations, a falling out in my D&D group of 14 years, and just a sort of malaise that

    When you're writing a chapter...

And listening to music to keep yourself in the mood, and then you hear a song that has you suddenly realize that you've been writing the entire chapter wrong and should have instead been basing it around the song - not necessarily using the song directly (especially since that would be against site rules concerning wholesale copying of lyrics), but certainly drawing on it for inspiration.

The Good News and the Bad News

The good news is that I got a root canal on Monday. No more pain in teeth. Yay!

The bad news is that I was 3/4ths of the way through the next chapter of Midnight Castle (~5000 words) and realized that I was writing it totally wrong. I need to go back to practically the start and change up a lot, though I'm salvaging lines and paragraphs wherever I can.

A Chance Encounter Updated! · 7:21pm Feb 28th, 2013

I'm sure that InserAuthorHere will post his own blog post concerning this, but I feel like posting this anyway.

A Chance Encounter has updated at long last! Hendy, the original author, did not wish to continue it for personal reasons, so he put the story up for adoption. InsertAuthorHere bravely stepped up to bat, and now at last the story is continuing!

Round of applause is in order, folks!

Yeah, I read it. I commented on the blog about how I like the chapter...

... And I'm sorta-sad to say that it makes me DREAD Crisis now... Not because I like the Lunaverse -unlike IAH, for some reason I can only like certain side-stories or non-canon oneshots such as Raindrops paired with Gilda- I am looking at it with pessimism, because of a few things.

1. While it takes planning, the sheer scope of how this is building up to 'correct everything wrong with the Lunaverse' is... setting the bar way too high... It feels like I'm over-analyzing -and I AM overanalyzing- but... it feels to like Crisis is going to be the "Duke Nukem Forever" of stories...

2. The. Night. Court. I... do not read MLP for political intrigue, nor for upstarts whom try to manipulate everything to their favor. I... did not like Octavia being a pawn. I didn't really like the main starting story. I didn't like the ending to Boast Busted. I'm... nitpicky, I guess.

...

... Sorry, took time to read Countdown... and yeah, it's... underwhelming already, at least for me. I already like IAH's fourth chapter of A Chance Encounter... but nope. That's constricted by canon in order to matter in the Lunaverse.

Let me be frank that... I am not out to target and persecute the Lunaverse or its writers. There are a few Lunaverse side-stories I actually enjoy thoroughly. My cynical and pessimistic opinion is partly the result of reading a certain Lyra-centered story that ended with a Diabolus Ex Machina, and... well, yeah... That one took ages to finish, and while some blindly praise it for the philisophical ending... I do not. That fic... ugh... that was needlessly cruel..

Um...the Night Court's arc is ending in "Gala." Except for maybe a few references to this, they will not feature at all in Crisis, or even in much of Season 2.

Nor is Crisis supposed to fix everything wrong with the Lunaverse, and it hasn't been built up as that, either. It's going to feature the conclusion of L!Twilight's arc, but it's not meant as a fix for anything, and I don't think it ever has been.

880525 Very well. Simply giving my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, though. I'm still going to read it when it comes out. I'm just going in with lower expectations... and that will make it better when I do read it...
