My Thoughs Concerning Twilicorn And The Plan For The Next 4 Weeks · 7:53am Feb 18th, 2013
I have two things to say.
I survived Twilicorn. I watched it with my girlfriend. While it wasn't terrible, it wasn't a good episode either. I would put this low on the list of episodes in terms of how much I liked them. If anything, it was just far too rushed; this really ought to have been a two-parter, or ended on a cliffhanger partway through. At least I know where all the songs for season 3 went. We finally got a Celestia song, and it was glorious. Almost all of the problems with it would have been fixed had they bothered with a little more exposition and made it into a two-parter episode. Looking back at the season, we probably could have done away with either episode 11 or episode 12, or perhaps Spike At Your Service. Some may call it a jumping the shark moment, but I continue to have high hopes for season 4. Now if only it didn't mess with my headcanon and potentially make my story, Last One Standing, an impossibility. Regardless, the fandom rage was huge and definitely epic. I haven't had such lulz or in a long time. Trolling studio is best studio.
Now, on to slightly more relevant matters. The first is that I will not be releasing a new chapter of Racer And The Geek this week. Instead, this Wednesday, I will be releasing Reflections, a followup to Last One Standing. It features Celestia and Luna getting existential. Reflections will not be added as a second chapter to Last One Standing. Instead, it will be added as its own separate story. I am on a six day upload cycle because I am trying to find the best day of the week for uploading fanfic. The next chapter of Racer And The Geek, chapter 4, will be released next week, although the exact date is to be determined pending data from Reflections. Chapter 4 will be significantly less dark than chapter 3. Fear not- I'm not turning this into darkfic. I plan on releasing the next three chapters for Racer And The Geek consecutively. One will be released every week. I hope to soon settle in on a regular release schedule, so please be patient with me a while longer. Consider the first three chapters to be act 1 of Racer And The Geek. The next three chapters will be act 2, and so on. The story still has a ways to go and Sunny still has a lot of room for growth and exploration. I plan write and release three chapters for three consecutive weeks and release something unrelated every fourth week.
Thanks for reading this. Keep calm and brony on.
About Twilicorn, my theory is that Hasbro forced them to do it so they could sell more toys, and they got their hands tied. I mean, they surely knew fans would rage and they probably didn't want to do something like this (We're talking about good writers, not the ones from G3.5).
And I thought the same about replacing Spike at Your Service with the Cutie Mark switch problem. If they had separated both storylines, I think that it could have been a prelude to the season ending, and maybe even allowed a bit of exposition about alicorns (Do they need to be tansformed, or Celestia and Luna were already born like this?).
On the other hand, my personal theory for season 4 (it's been confirmed that this chapter was only a third of what's coming next) is that Twilight would resign to be a princess because she would feel distanced from her friends. Because being immortal and having to watch them die is not very pleasant, and I'm sure she will have new duties in Canterlot, so I don't think she would be able to see them very often.
But as I said, it's just a theory and maybe she will remain an alicorn for the rest of the series. Who knows? Either way, it's been done and the fans will have to go with it as much as they may hate it.
