What's with the sudden surge of Pokemon crossovers?
Not just Pokemon crossovers, I mean. These are all, "Human gets turned into a Pokemon and then goes to Equestria" crossovers. It's an oddly specific scenario that seems to be becoming popular enough to deserve its own tag in the past week or so.
First, there was "Burning Souls," the story about a guy and girl that become an Arcanine and Ninetales respectively.
Then there was "A Pokemon Problem," where some group of guys ended up getting whisked away from their party and becoming various pokemon, but we only know of one so far who is a Beldam.
And now there's "A Ghost of a Chance," where some guy dies and comes back as a Shedinja apparently.
Not to mention that in the "Chess Game of the Gods" crossover group, there was a (frankly horrendous) story about some guy becoming a Cyndaquil a while back.
What is with this sudden bandwagon? This confuses me. Especially since none of the stories I've read in this vein so far have been really all that great.
Look I get that people are excited for Pokemon XY, and crossovers can always be great... but mixing them in this way doesn't get you chocolate and peanut butter...
...Just some random thoughts after being awake for 22 hours.
EDIT: Now add "Heart of Steel" where some guy named Sebastian becomes and Aron to the list. This is getting ridiculous.
I'm wondering about this myself. For the record, I don't get it either.
I'd seen 'burning souls' though I didn't know about the others...
Though that might be because I've been putting my time into the Abarat crossover fic I've been wiriting, which seems to be the only Abarat story on the entire site...
22 hours???
Also, I don't think that the pokemon fics are that great either.
