I'm breaking the silence (and my self-imposed exile) to announce that I will be at Trotcon in Columbus, Ohio, between June 20th and June 22nd. This is mostly so I can see friends again and to spend time with them, and not necessarily because of the pony fandom. Sorry.
I'll either be attending as a helper, as I have several friends vending, or as a panelist. That's still up in the air.
I've actually been back from Bronycon, but I haven't been on the site much, mostly because my Ponyfiction Vault interview went up and all the comments were about the state I was from and not the actual story itself. SLIGHTLY DISAPPOINTED THERE, FIMFIC.
Also hi new watchers, I'll do more stuff eventually.
807268 All that "Leftover money" went to hiring professional editors, going to extra locations, etc. They did not make the entire thing on a 60K$ budget and have the rest just lying about, you know.
They are stopping the extra production because they are worried the money they anticipated getting later through other avenues is unobtainable due to the piracy. In the real world, things cost money.
The $12 price point is for the download, not a stream, and has the same data on it as the DVD will. You are primarily paying for a copy of the data, not the media it is on.
And yes, they did spend all the money on the documentary. It was initially only going to be about Bronycon, but when they got the extra funding, they decided to expand to more cons and work on some international stuff. Not only that, they also were able to hire better editors as their vision expanded, and that costs money. $60k would have been enough to film at Bronycon and get the editing done for that, probably on the cheap, and that's it. These are professionals making a professional documentary, not a guy with a video camera editing the thing on his PC. (Not the little projects are inferior, just different.)
Edit: Forgot to mention, go look up John de Lancie's interviews, he explains the nuts and bolts well and simply for those who don't know anything about the film industry.
This gif amuses me.
EDIT: DAMN, look at him GO!
DANCE, VARGRAS, DANCE!
Sorry, this .gif just replaced your avatar in my mind.

Oh the piracy issue is absolutely true, I'm just saying that they used most or all of the money they got.
Prometheus is a bitch, no?

$12 is expensive?
