I completely underestimated today's eclipse. · 12:37am April 9th
I have witnessed two partial eclipses in my lifetime, so I wasn't quite sure how a "total eclipse" would be noticeably better.
Holy shit, how wrong I was.
Luckily, I reside well within the path of totality, so I didn't have to travel at all.
And just... Wow.
During the four minutes of totality, the sky was clear, the temperature dropped ten degrees, and the speed at which a dusk-like darkness descended from the 3:00PM sky was... Wow!
No wonder ancient societies believed the world was ending when one of these happened.
Quite the experience.
Not happening again for 21 years.
Yeah, total eclipses are crazy to experience in person. I was lucky enough to be in the path of the 2017 eclipse.
Yeah, a bit shorter totality where I am but... looking around and seeing sunset in every direction? Wow, even when it was near totality seeing the late afternoon light but clearly afternoon shadows was insane.
We lucked out as we had cloud cover that covered most of the eclipse with only brief windows but it was clear sky about 3 minutes before totality.
I only caught a glimpse of a partial eclipse, it was like a shining quarter crescent moon in the sun, quite nifty but even with special glasses it was hard to look at.
Shame we didn't end up in a self insert HiE type setting shortly after/during witnessing it, as it would be a good excuse for it to happen.
Man, it sure sucks that I work in a grocery store deli department where there are no windows in sight...

I was able to see it, and it was awesome. Anyone interested in pics? They're not great, but they're okay.

Same here.
In my area it got noticeably darker and the rabbits in the yards started going crazy.
Damn, sounds awesome
couldn’t see anything in new orleans, was too cloudy, glad you got to see one tho! maybe il see the next one
Lucky. I live right next to the path of totality and I couldn’t go because of traffic. It still got cold and dark where I was though.
Yeah I'm really disappointed we would have been able to see some of it but with Washington's perpetual cloud cover we didn't see anything.
Pics or it didn't happen. Lol, just kidding. I was stuck at work when it came by my locale. Not even the first time I missed out on a solar eclipse, partial or otherwise.
It sure was something special, wasn’t it?
