Granted, the majority of those blogs were status updates. :twilightblush:

Now, what should we talk about in blog 500?

Ooh, I know, alicorns and my thoughts on the subject.

Erm.....

To be perfectly honest, I don't really have any real thoughts on them. :rainbowderp:

I'm actually quite neutral about them and their creation. I didn't even react that much when Twilicorn happened or when it was revealed that Flurry Heart was an alicorn. (Aside from how gosh darn adorable I think Flurry is.)

I don't mind alicorn original characters either; hey, whatever floats your boat. If you want to create an alicorn, all the more power to you. I've personally never needed to create one. If I need an alicorn in a story, the princesses have so far been more than sufficient. So no, the lack of alicorn original characters in my stories has nothing to do with any fandom aversion to them, just plain and simple, don't need them. :pinkiehappy:

"Alright, Askre, you wise guy, what about the dreaded red and black OC?"

Eeehhh *Indifferent shrug?*

Okay, to be perfectly honest, I hadn't even heard this term until I joined the FIM fandom in 2011, and by that point, I had lurked in several. So, I'm not sure if this is an MLP-only thing or if it exists in other fandoms I haven't lurked in.

At first, the term confused me because, as mainly a writer, I don't draw all that much. I suck at color theory. You can show me twenty different similar-looking colors, and I'll just go "durrr they all look the same to me." :rainbowlaugh: Even if they twenty different names.

Me when people do try to do that:

It's so bad when the occasional Make-A-Wish pony showed up in the show. I could not tell the difference between them or any other pony on the show based on colors alone, yet several people could point them out immediately before knowing they were a Make-A-Wish pony character.

So don't trust me when it comes to colors. :scootangel:

Anyway, red and black, I honestly was confused as to why people despised characters based on their color. Until I finally heard that those characters tended to be edge lords. Oooooh, now I got you. Yes, I need to hear a little more than just colors. I tend not to judge characters based on appearances. I need to see or read them in action, what their personality is, how they interact with the world, stuff like that.

So as you can probably guess, my first instinct is not to bash a character based on appearances alone, no matter the color or whatever extra limb they might have. I tend to need more than just that. I give every character at least one chance to, at the very least, intrigue me before writing them off.

Anyway, I think I will wrap up this 500th blog, rambled enough I think. :pinkiehappy:

I have a good one.
