SPECIAL BLOG OF REFLECTION · 6:53pm Dec 30th, 2023

Hey, everyone! Mr. J here!

Well, this year is almost drawing to an imminent conclusion with 2024 dawning upon us. This has been a pretty chaotic year for me personally, but I'm not complaining too much. I just hope that the new year will be more rewarding and fulfilling for all of us.

I forgot to mention something this past September, but it has now been four years of being a member of this website. Pretty crazy, huh? Yeah, I know, time flies, but it's always good to have something to remember and look back. And speaking of refection, I want to take the time to speak about my experience with this site and why I became a fanfic author in the first place.

When I watched some fanmade crossover videos on YouTube (MLP & Transformers), I thought they were just "meh". They didn't look that interesting to me although I was still thrilled by watching them because I'm a crossover fanatic. Then when curiosity got the best of me, I watched the season 8 premiere back in 2018 as a way to introduce myself to the show. I didn't think too much of it, but I still followed along until the finale dropped.

Then I stuck around for season 9, and when the two-parter dropped, I was excited and impressed because it felt like an action-packed adventure to me--seeing Grogar and the other villains. So as time went on in 2019, I watched every episode that came out in its respective date at the time. Then we get to the finale, and when I watched the Grogar twist happen, I was pissed. I knew nothing about the character prior to this season, but he looked so intriguing to me, and I wanted to see him in action against the ponies. But as it turned out, it was Discord in disguise.

I hated the series finale because of that, and one night--that same night--my brain went haywire, and so many different ideas came into my head. I wanted to correct the wrongs of the finale and make a story that would somewhat fix Grogar and make him the real deal. So I spent a few weeks writing the draft of my first story and worked on each chapter separately. Once I was finished, I sent it to the moderators and adjusted any errors they informed me via feedback.

Then it was finally published for the world to see, and it surprisingly got a positive reception in October 2019. Someone even said that it was better than the whole finale; that encouraged me to keep writing more stories--sequels and standalones. Thus, I developed a love for fan fiction and writing stories in general.

Looking back at my first story, I don't have any strong feelings for it anymore (same can be said for some of the others I wrote). Regardless, I will never take them down because there are still people who love these stories and read them anytime they want to. A part of me is actually thankful my disdain for the Grogar twist motivated me to jumpstart one of my favorite hobbies. If it weren't for Nicole Dubuc writing that entire scene, I would've never become a fanfic writer.

Now remember, I got over it and stopped caring about it as explained in my "Reflecting on the Grogar twist" blog a couple years ago. Nevertheless, I still had the passion and the drive for making fanfics for everyone to enjoy. But it wasn't just the fanfics and the reviews I wrote that made this journey memorable...it was also the friends I made along the way. They made my experience here so enjoyable and thrilling every single day I come on here. Therefore, I want to mention a few people who are close to me and whom I talked to frequently.

Darth Wrex, you are one of my closest friends on this site; I admire your positive attitude and your love for friendship. Plus, it was a lot of fun doing roleplays with you and the others three years ago until we got in trouble for it. But nonetheless, you're a good friend, and I hope we stick together till the end of time.

A Man Undercover, you're my second best friend, and your passion for fantasy, storytelling, and media is always admirable. Despite your infamous reputation and some strong, conflicting opinions we may have, that doesn't stop us from being best pals. Continue your work and keep moving forward, AMU!

Dianabel, my dear, I never told you this before, but I always looked upon you as a family member even though we aren't related. Your wisdom and humility are the two things that make you stand out, in my opinion. I wish you the best in your career and in your other areas of life.

Lastly, MLPFollower. My man, your optimistic personality is just unmatched! Whenever there is darkness or despair, you're always there to turn on the light. And frankly, you should apply as an interviewer because you do such a good job challenging people in asking questions that makes people think. Keep it up.

Of course, I don't wanna leave out my other friends who've followed me for quite some time. Big shout out to CROSSOVER KING, ScorchingFlamesInc, Darth Severus, Ocellus the Changeling, JimmyHook19, MDCommissioner, MarlonCalpe4000, THERDSTORYWHISPERER, GamerDroid23, OP Omni God-Emperor Doom, and Admiral Producer. And to all my newest followers, thank you for following me and I hope we can also become friends along the way.

So yeah, these four years of being a member of fimfiction have been really life-changing for me, and I don't have any plans in retiring any time soon. Regardless of my love/hate relationship with "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", I have so much fun being here, writing stories, making reviews, and talking with you guys both on this page and in some groups I'm a part of. May each and everyone of you have a great day and a wonderful happy new year.

Peace out!

It’s amazing what can ending up having such a profound impact on oneself.

Happy belated anniversary!

Deeply appreciate the words, Mr. J. See you next year!

You’re welcome and thank you!

Have a Happy New Year as well!

Oh, that almost made me cry, thank youu .

Funnily enough, on the 3rd of january, it will be four years since of The confrontation, my first story. It´s curious because my experience with the finale is the same as yours. If it hadn´t been for that finale, I wouldn´t have showed my writing skills to people worldwide.

Anyway, happy new year and anniversary too!

I realized that it's gonna be five years since I joined the fandom too

Sorry on not talking with you much during these past couple of years
