    Audiobook Announcement

Pipp!!! · 4:59pm Oct 26th, 2023

Make Your Mark is far from perfect, but I love love love love love the fact that THE PRETTY ONE™️ gets all of the zaniest faces, and the vast majority of the show's slapstick.

It makes her easier to connect to, and identify with. New Pipp is downright lovable.

There's an important lesson here: Pipp Petals' online persona is not who she really is.

This may seem obvious to us adults, but "What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up" survey studies consistently show that kids list "influencer" and "You Tuber" as their top job choices. (At least kids in America).

Creating a pony character who is, in fact, an influencer, was obviously the product of Hasbro focus-grouping. So it's especially wholesome to see this recent development in Make Your Mark - that Pipp's character archtype is consistently inverted.

It's a small thing that makes a very big difference.

Discuss.

Thanks as usual for sharing your thoughts; I don't believe I considered it that way/in that level of detail. :)
