First blog in 4 years! · 3:37am Aug 17th, 2023
Wow, I really did kinda just fall off the face of the site for a while as a writer, huh? It's been forever. I've literally gotten married since last time.
I'm going to try not to make any promises as I did in previous blog posts. That never ends well.
Instead, here are some updates on what I'm working on, and what has yet to be published here.
- Two stories too short to post on their own still need to be edited, and preferably a few more pieces of flash fiction need to be written so they can all be published here in a short anthology.
- I have no idea if I will continue my Screwball story. I don't currently have the interest or motivation, but it might happen later. We'll see.
- Death is a Kindness, Dreamliner, and Apple Rot (mentioned in the previous, 4-year-old blog post) are all still in consideration for being written and published. Of the three, I've only written any material for Apple Rot.
- Another story, titled "The Bookworm Bug's Basement," is a more traditional "Human in Equestria" story that I've been thinking about writing for some time. Think "in another world with my x," and the "x" is "an entire library of books." Not sure if this one will ever happen, but it might.
- My recent short story has inspired me to do some worldbuilding around the Council of Royals and its history. I'm currently thinking of writing a 10-chapter novelette for this website that goes backward through history, starting with the exile of Hive Chrysalis and ending with the origins of the First Queen.
Expanding on that last point, I won't give away much information in this blog post... but I want to give something. So here's a little bit of preview information, assuming I finish planning & writing that novelette.
Not all changelings are equine! Hives Chrysalis and Hyaline used to be pony-adjacent species, but being pony-like isn't a rule. Changeling Hives can actually have rather different body structures from other Hives. So, my lore drop to you is a list of all the Hive/Queen names, and what species they used to be before becoming changelings.
- "The First" - Unknown original species
- Trochanter - Long Dragon / Chinese Dragon
- Ozadene - Vulpen (anthropomorphic foxes, possible evolutionary cousins to Abyssinians)
- Spiracle - Colossus (basically giants made of nature-stuff)
- Alula - Siren
- Elytron - Sphinx
- Keratin - Gargoyle
- Tarsus - Centaur
- Hyaline - Tarpan (evolutionary cousins to ponies and zebras)
- Chrysalis - Kiang (evolutionary cousins to ponies and zebras)
I don't have much more to say here. I mostly just made this post because I realized I hadn't made a blog in 4 years.
Best of luck with your stuff! :)
It is nice to hear that you are well!
