It's my parent's anniversary!!! · 3:31am Aug 7th, 2023
I'm so proud of them! They enjoyed the cake, milkshakes, poems and decorations made, as well as the picture/amulet necklaces and folders I bought! ❤️
My poems:
Haiku - "Puppy Love" (me to my parents)
(Me to my parents)
1. Love your hugs and kisses!
2. Spring love blooms, snuggles, cuddles
3. Bound with puppy love 💕
Three poems based on their relationship:
Limerick - "School kids" (dad to mom)
A. I thought my life was already fun and happy
A. Our first meeting was short and snappy,
B. God told us we were made for one another,
B. Still in college, yet sure we would stay with each other,
A. Now my life remains sweet and sappy!
Limerick - "Prince and Princess" (mom to dad)
A. When I walked up the beautiful isle,
A. I knew we would make it through every trial,
B. Now made royalty in Jesus' love,
B. Joy decended like a dove,
A. Entwined in love worth while!
Limerick - "Starstruck Love" (parents to each other)
A. In God's bright day,
A. We prance and play,
B. We enjoy each other's companies,
B. We dance and sing with our child that accompanies,
A. Our love strengthens forevermore, and I love you forever, I pray!
...
I tried my best to follow the rules (for the haiku) and rhyming schemes (for the limericks).
Limerick: rhyming scheme of AABBA; aka the first two and last lines rhyme with each other, and the other two end with a different rhyming word. Also, the child mentioned in the last poem is me. Also, I brought toys that looks like wedding cake toppers for all three stages of their lives; their first meeting, their marriage, and now - to correspond with the three poems!
Haiku: more complicated, especially when you first start: it needs a season reference and a cutting or expressive/action word, but the hardest part is that the first and third lines need 5 syllables, the second one, 7 (syllables are words that include vowels like o, if I remember that correctly.)
These are my first successful poems since middle school. Even if I got the conventions and specifics incorrect, my parents were very pleased with my efforts, so it was a win-win. Hope you all enjoyed! :) Kiki out! 🥰
