Third Update · 2:37am Jul 27th, 2023
So finally got some news about my computer to share; My dad and I finally were able to sit down and work on it but ran into an issue: For some reason it will not finishing booting up. It reaches the loading screen you get when starting whatever OS you're using just fine as far as we can tell, only to (I think) bluescreen and restart. At the moment we're thinking either there's an incompatibility issue or the drive with the OS is gone.
Not sure at the moment but hopefully tomorrow we'll get it up and running again. My biggest worry right now is my pictures and my work in Mircosoft Word as, because I never thought it , and haven't backed up anything in a long time. So I'm worried about that.
Now dad has told me it should be fine, and if the drives did die we can recover them with one of those "magic boxes" that allows one to recover data from dead drives. Not sure if any of you know about them since apparently they were only on shelves for a short time? I don't really know the whole story behind that.
Here's hoping things will work out.
Same, buddy, same. 👍

Kind of thinking of just plugging the drives into my other computer, but I'm sure about data loss at the moment.

Yeah, best to be careful with this sort of thing; don't risk more equipment than what's necessary.
Fingers crossed for you.
